OK...

Thank you to everyone who made a contribution to the evening, it was very much appreciated and enjoyed

Thank you for the raffle donations from Green & Blue, Southwark News, Foxtons, Wellbeing Well and Health Matters, about ?200 was raised and I'll be making the donation to St Christopher's Hospice next week (and thank you LadyGooner for collecting).

Thank to everyone for coming, it was a great evening and really good to put faces to names. I really enjoyed it and it was great to hear so many people say that they enjoy the forum and find it fun and useful.

Have a lovely weekend

Mark

Ps I seem to have acquired eight brand new books that were left at the end of the night including Tough Love by Kerry Katona, The Battle for Big school by Sarah Tucker and Seve by Seve Ballesteros. Anyone want to claim them?

I've just woken up still a bit pissed after your party.I blame DG for putting glass after glass of sambuca in my hand. I thought if I sipped it slowly it would just have a mild warming effect. It wasn't the case. Anyway... it was a lovely party and great to meet lots of new people. I can't remember anyone's name, except Mark. Mark ? thank you for a great evening and apologies if I ate more than my fair share of cake.It was nice cake.

Thanks Mark for a great party and lovely to see y'all again and meet others. The books were just a random selection grabbed from work as I left last night as a birthday present to the forum. Some were taken but sorry some got left behind. Can you take them to the charity shop?! Wish you hadn't mentioned the Kerry Katona (it was an eclectic mix).

Great party Mark, well done for organising everything.(tu) For my sins I am working today. I am also nursing the mother of all hangovers. Met some lovely people who I hadn't met before and others who I already have.

Ahem! Is just me but there seemed to be an extraordinary amount of lovely looking ladies at the do last night, some of whom I flirted with in the most appallingly salacious manner and some that I unfortunately didn't get around to, luckily for them. I really am turning into a terrible old tart on my old age. Roll on the next drinks.:))

I'm being the mother of all cliches by posting on mrs mocker's lappy outside the bishop. If I had any dignity left I'd be appalled at myself.

Anyhooo, second the whole great night stuff, absolutely top effort Mark. So cool to meet many old faces, new faces, old names and new.

Oh and Beatnic, sorry if the missus got a bit intense, she does that sometimes ;-)

Happy days all!

I've just got back from Croydon having been dragged there by my sister and Mrs Keef to buy a suit... Having got home at 5, and had about 3 hours unconsiousness, it wasn't the best trip...

Anyway, thanks again for last night, it was wicked seeing everyone, and meeting a few new people.

    • Just for information: I see that the Licensing Sub-committee has the Tesco application as item 1 on their 24 July meeting agenda.  https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=172&MId=8329. The officer's report to the committtee provides a good succinct summary.  I see, from (original) p.31 of the full public pack, (or more conveniently the supporting documents) that Tesco Legal Dept on 12 June reported that they'd agreed with the police's suggested conditions to be attached to the licence, and the police accordingly withdrew their own representation.  That leaves just one representation, from a member of the public, to be dealt with on the day. I still think it's not necessarily to be presumed that Tesco will definitely be taking over the premises.  I see that Poundland themselves were granted an off-sales licence on 21 Feb 2023, and surrendered it on 3 July 2025.  I'm not sure they actually ever used it themselves.  Did they? https://www.southwark.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2024-09/Statement of Licensing Policy 2021-2026.pdf is a full statement of the policy and its application, for thems as is interested.

    • Well, quite. Do you know where your lad's going tonight?
    • I'd get rid of duty free shopping.  Nothing to do with tourist tax but something I hate.  All that glitz as you try to get through to Wetherspoons in the departure lounge.  No great savings over on line or even at times supermarkets, and the hypocrisy of selling cheap cancer sticks. Ok back to tourist tax
