We get No 40 bus to London Bridge and go in water fountains near The Scoop. Bit busy there by lunchtime today.

Or - go over Waterloo bridge to Somerset House and go in water fountains there.

There are loos in Somerset House - and a cafe (bit expensive) if you want a cup of tea. Get there by 10 and the place is virtually empty. We always get one of the tables and chairs.

sorry for the late response, but as you've probably already found out Brockwell's new paddling pool isn't open yet and judging from all the equipment still around there opening day looks to be quite a while off unfortunately! Looks like it's going to be really nice though!

Gosh - everyone's a bit downhearted! The water park is unbelievably good. It's open, it's free and the kids are having an amazing time in there. There wasn't quite enough water in there before, but they've tweaked that and there's so much for kids to do. Check it out!

totally agree - went there on Sat and my little ones absolutely loved it - a very good water/ sand play area. Also - they are putting one in at Norwood park and the Croydon road recreation ground now has a paddling pool (not as nice as Brockwell park) but also a bouncy castle!!

    • Europe, very much so, the whole of August is a write-off, if you want anything delivered from there, forget it, but there's no similar summer shutdown period in the UK as such, just people taking hols while kids off school etc. The nearest the UK construction sector has to a proper shut down is the Christmas/New Year period when, depending on when the Bank Holidays fall, there's an approx 10-14 day unofficial shutdown between Christmas and New Year...
    • There's planning permission for 2 houses.  Southwark planning site is too slow today to use, but found this link from Savills to auction the site: https://auctions.savills.co.uk/auctions/19--26-november-2024-158/3335-hansler-road-east-dulwich-london-se22-9dj-13236   Edited to add that the inclusion of lower ground floor in the planning application description indicates that basements will be dug.  Looks like Fellbrigg/Hansler is up for some heavy construction traffic next year.   Links to planning documents: https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=RZDIQMKBI2V00
