I have been thinking about a similar idea for sometime as I have noticed that a lot of people in the area have fruit trees that they are unable to harvest properly. Each year I see so many apples rot on the floor and it seems like such a terrible waste... Especially when you think about the amount of cider that could be made (and perry in the case of pears).

I would love to start some sort of ED co-op cider where everyone donates their apples to a central press and then dependant on how much cider we make, we could split it amongst all do donatees. We might have to get some sort of disclaimer though as scrumpee can be notoriously dangerous!

It has been dormant for a while but has lots of potential along the lines we've been discussing on this thread. Perhaps it will find its time later this year as the apple "harvest" approaches.

Hi Sue

I hope the music went well, Marilyn my outgoing SNUB partner was busy doing this. I was at work, although I enjoyed the end of the fair. I will try and organise with my incoming gardening partner for SNUB something similar. Not sure when though. My incoming Bikes project partner is keeping me busy with funding :)-D .As always watch this space, for up and coming SNUB events.

Hi all, wow wasn't expecting such a good response! Having already killed half of what I planted (novice gardener.. who stupidly went on holiday without making arrangements for watering of the garden..) I'm not sure now how much extra I will have but will stay in the loop.

    • ...and so, 4 years on from the "dramatic planning meeting" that approved the "meganursery", how has it all worked out in reality? The building looks nice from the outside - but I don't know anything more. Did either of the nursery businesses on EDG fail because there was no demand for nursery places in East Dulwich? Did Carmageddon on East Dulwich Grove get worse? Were pre-COVID work patterns abandoned forever (lol)? Were some of the concerns expressed in opposition to the planning application a teensy bit overblown...? https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/mega-nursery-approved-amid-dramatic-planning-meeting/
    • If I don’t feed the birds, they’ve actually come and perched on the fence and stared directly at me through the window. The squirrels do that too.
    • Reading The words 'Artisan'  and 'Curated' when refering to my 'Breakfast Bundle' frankly make me feel a bit..🤢
    • I would recommend Coopers bakehouse, which offer a similar service to B&C but it’s just focussed on really good bread, decent prices and keeps for ages (also freezes well).  Delivered by bike.
