tomo
Just got back from Rye Lane- all seemed calm, most shops shut, and some police patrolling. katie1997
I have been on Rye Lane today and the only shop that was open was the big Lidl store. Personally felt that the atmosphere was okay at first with shopkeepers and members of the public pulling together. BB100
Just been out and it's a ghost town. Most of the shops on Honor Oak Park have closed. Shame it's such a nice sunny day. thecaptain
Just spoke to the other half, all quiet on LL though nearly all shops have closed early...CO-OP is open but allowing only allowing a certain amount of people in at a time.Tense times in ED. KidKruger
*Bob*Listen to the voice of the politically disaffected - interviewed on the BBC world service [audioboo.fm]Staggering ignorance: "...yeah it's them innit, whoever it is, it's THEIR fault". Unreal. They've trashed and stolen from a shop. And don't know why.Solid politics there then. The Minkey
I just did the 343 thing again from Borough up to Cheltenham Rd and all was quiet. Noticeable police presence in both E&C and Peckham. Having seen a few riots now with looting etc, I'd say it won't kick off in the same places that have already been hit for the simple reason that if it was worth nicking, it would have been nicked already. Here's a short vid of the action in Camberwell, shot an hour ago: http://www.twitvid.com/6PC5J Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18884-trouble-in-peckham/page/17/#findComment-463206 Share on other sites
The Minkey
Have now lodged a complaint about being dumped off the bus into the middle of a riot last night. The woman I spoke to was shocked. Wondering which formulaic response the Customer Services team will dish out. Not holding my breath.. lindylou
The way i see things is thus: i absolutely abhor what is happening in my country. But peckham, brixton and all the other places you could mention have now become a melting pot to place all immigrants. Peckham and brixton have had their problems for years, but it all seemed pretty much sorted until the local councils decided to dump every single nationality on earth on their doorsteps. I in no way condone what has happened, i deplore it. But something major has to happen and now. KidKruger
CPT now boarded up for precaution and Centra (Michaels) grocery closed - I was last customer. No sign of bovver though. If anything happens surely it'll be when dark. The Minkey
Why do people think it will happen again where we saw it last night? Did it happen again in Tottenham? Does this theory hold for the various other ghettos which have seen trouble.. such as Bromley, Fulham, Ealing, Chingford, Balham, Merton, Oxford Circus and Chelsea?
