I think GG's 1989 championship winning team was good to watch. Rocastle on one wing, Brian Marwood on the other. Michael Thomas and Paul Davis were a relatively cultured midfield. Merson up front - some good footballers and a strong defence.

Then you had Perry Groves.....

Don't forget Anders Limpar and Ian Wright. Oh, but then there was John Jensen.

Plus, the longer he's out of the game, the less chance of him being offered a contract.

Football has moved on a lot since 2001 and at 65 he's the wrong age for a club looking for a long term appointment.

Not to mention the fact that he liked a bung. I really can't see the clamour to have him back in the game. Call yourself a Spurs fan.

I disagree with that man management style being obsolete - I think now more than ever you need to rule with an iron fist rather than expect players to motivate themselves at the idea of a 50p win bonus.

Winning in style The Tottenham way? Maybe at one time Jah but not for yonks. Having a soft underbelly is the style I most associate with my beloved Spurs. Most of the players we've had in recent years haven't been fit to wear the shirt. We're playing well at present but the results against Wolves and Stoke worried me, as well as losing at home to 10 man united when we were 1 up. That's been the Tottenham way for quite a while now.
We've been won the title three times in better style than most teams manage in a lifetime from 1998 to now, whilst Tottenham have won precisely no, none, zilch, zip, nada, zero, titles in the same period. A Spuds fan preaching style to the present Arsenal side is laughable.
Despite Arsenal's superior short passing game they can be quite predictable. They lack any real quality on the wings and everything is played in front of the opposing defence. A savvy defence would simply stay compact an invite Arsenal to try to use the flanks as even if they do get crosses in they lack the aerial ability to convert crosses into goals, despite Eduardo's rare headed goal on sunday.
Looks like Beckford might be off to Newcastle for ?3million though. Personally, if we get that much, I'd bite Mike Ashley's hand off. He's worth nowhere near that.

It would seem he's put in a transfer request. Scores a goal against the champs, and starts believing his own hype.

    • Big recommendation for Stephen Viccary who has created a magnificent bathroom for us. Quality of work is absolutely top notch. We couldn't be happier - see pics.  Stephen is considerate and tidy meaning working from home during the work was fine (some noise - obviously, it is a demo and installation after all. He does not work on multiple jobs, does a full days work and does ALL the work himself - Tiling, plumbing, lighting (including lighting on a motion sensor under the vanity and in the shower niche - for night time visits 😉), he even changed the door architraves, sorted the badly cracked ceiling and did all the paint work. A full end to end service. Stephen's number - 07941 266 145
    • Highly recommend Dulwich Eco Gardening.  When he came to quote Saied said he’d give our garden back so we could decide what we do next.  Under two weeks of hard work from Saied and Mo and we have the garden back and can see paving I’d forgotten about. Not only did Saied remove our very overgrown greenery. Nature had taken over. He also took back to our fence line overgrown ivy, apple and pear trees and and dealt with a neighbours bamboo that had invaded our garden.  We are now going to get quotes for what we do next so those quoting will be able to see the space.  Saied has suggested someone to quote and will be coming back when he does in case he has any questions or they can work together.  I thought Saied would be a good choice and he was. Quotes from others didn’t leave me with confidence for the end result. That was never a concern with Saied.
    • Having a BBQ (fingers crossed) in 2 weeks and need a small BBQ for veggie bits and any spare benches or garden tables and chairs to borrow to add to mine. Any going? Thanks in advance...
