Jose Mourinho is top of Real Madrid's managerial shopping list after the Spanish giants were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the sixth season in a row after losing to Lyons last night. The Inter Milan coach?s discipline and tactical acumen are seen as what is needed to turn the club?s expensive raw materials into trophy winners.

Man Utd very much on fire last night good to see English clubs doing so well in Europe.

Mourinho would be a suprising choice for Madrid for a variety of reasons. From his part would he really want to be the coach at a club where he doesn't even make all the decisions regarding team selection and transfers? From Madrid's point of view his brand of football is not attractive to watch. They sacked Capello, who won the league in his one season with them, for that reason.

Sounds about right. And United win the European Cup (much as I'd hate to see that happen) and Fergie pulls his retirement out of the bag. Big summer of managerial change.

I am sure Colin would be up for Real Madrid...he turned down Chelsea you know!...and this would definitely be his last job in management, oh yes, just like the last two. Be good to see the Galacticos turning out in red and white stripes though, and the crowd singing "The Greasy Chip Butty Song" in Spanish....>:D

    • And I'm afraid very loud fireworks are rather a thing, the noise being necessary to scare away evil things at New Year.
    • In my experience of public sector funding, there is always room for improvement. That the council are custodians of our money, and are expected to use it wisely and efficiently seems to be lost on them. Just because no council has good financial acumen does not mean we should not insist on it, or should just accept all annual increases without question.
    • Could be, Sue. I believe the Year of the Horse officially starts tonight on 17 Feb. So, although no official displays to mark the date that I am aware of, I suspect there will be unofficial displays until end of coming weekend, sadly.
    • But what are you basing that judgement on? Vibes? where exactly and under what council is money being spent wisely? what about parties which promise to cut waste, come to power and find out there is no waste?
