Dont forget the salaries. They have a bigger impact on profit and loss than any other outgoing at a football club.

Slightly different take on it

Was a bit taken aback at the scoreline, but then again Wolves are on a bit of a roll, especially away from home (more points gained away than at Molineux)...it's still too tight to call, a couple of wins/losses and everything changes...like you said in an earlier post, Hammers will stay up because there are 3 worse teams than them.

Well that was the case too when Sheffield United went down (and a truly dreadful Fulham team stayed up). And there's often some really weird results in the final games of the season. It would not surprise me if Portsmouth had a good run now it is too late...

certainly did, and these were just the ones declared and not hidden in the Cayman Isles by Redknapp and Storrie!

5 losses (all very one sided) in a row including two crucial six pointers at home. I think Dowie will give Hull some momentum. We've a better squad than most teams in the bottom half - the buck has to stop with Zola and Clarke. Zola interviewed last night sounded like a broken man way out of his depth...he's gone from a kind of mantra of smiley optimism to broken with no anger inbetween. I think he should go today, not sure if he will.

Not really. But for those of us who remember just how much they completley dominated the domestic game in the 70s and especially 80s then at first (ie a few years ago) I was quite happy when they stopped winning league titles and cups almost unchallenged and gave others a chance! I don't believe they'll go into complete 'meltdown' as their heritage and 'brand' (pukes) and global fanbase is far too big for that. I think i'd be far happier if they won the Premiership next year than Man U or Chelsea say.

As I said yesterday, I saw the Bolton defeat and it has to be the worst performance I have seen from an Irons side in 25 years. Last night was as bad and the body language all over the pitch was wromg.

It is not even the case that we can play a more robust form of football to help our case, we simply do not have the players.

We sold badly and bought badly, I have no idea what players like Kovac, Franco, jimenez etc. are doing there, don't even get me started on Savio. This is Zola (and Nani's) team, bought in very difficult circumstances, yes, but a shower nonetheless.

Zola is a great guy and was a great player, his Ideas on how football should be played are admirable but this is the real world and it is time for him to leave.

Yes, and apparently the Pope wears a funny hat.

    • Just a quick post to say that my restaurant reviews column is now one year old. There are 45 reviews here - mostly of local places (some sadly now defunct, others thriving). There are a couple of recipes from a period when I couldn't afford to eat out, a couple of moans about my health when I couldn't eat out on doctor's orders and a couple of reviews beyond our manor. But the main thing is that it is a free, useful guide to local dining and, I hope, an entertaining read. You can, of course, pay to subscribe or follow for free to get the reviews directly into your inbox as I don't want to spam EDF with every review (doctor says I'm not allowed spam anyway). The pictures below come from my two most popular reviews - Persepolis (new spin-off opening soon) and Norbert's, a great addition to SE22. Please have a read and please consider subscribing. Did I mention you can subscribe for free?   https://eatsdulwich.substack.com/
    • I'd like to recommend Andy - came out very last minute to help us with a rental property that was having plumbing issues. We couldn't source the problem but Andy was able to find it / fix it easily & took the stress out of the problem. We have booked him again to put in a new bath for us now too as we were so happy with this work.    Lovely fella - thoroughly recommend using! Andy's number is 07983 688 451
