Semi Final ticket coming Wednesday!

SHANTATHON!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee'll Drink a drink a drink to David the Kemp the Kemp the Kemp,

The Saviour of the Pompey Forward Line

Cos someone gave him a little white football,

Now he's scoring all the time!

Only 9 fit first teamers available! I am gonna take me boots to Wembley!

My mates niece is a mascot and there is a pool of cash going round Pompey coming to her if she kicks Redknapp in the bollocks when introduced to him!

Watched an Arsenal game on telly few weeks back, might have been when they demolished Porto 4-0, and Nasri played in the Fabregas role very well so maybe not quite the armageddon moment for Arsenal.

Let us hope for the pride of English football it is not Sol Campbell that now replaces Gallas at the Nou Camp next week as they might have to wheel the geriatric off the pitch in a wheelbarrow if Messi makes up for his sub-par 1st leg performance.

I thought Giggs was pretty poor today and don't know why Fergie left it so late to bring on Nani. If they were so tired from their mid-week match how come the same team dominated for most of the 2nd half? Park should have had a pen and Drogba was offside. I don't think it's over just yet. It's been a funny old season.

Get over it.........that's rich. You know that games change as goals are scored. If we had a pen and scored from it it doesn't mean the rest of the game would have panned out as it did. At the time of Park's pen claim United weren't in it but that's not how football works.

Regardless of that United were poor overall and having 3 30 somethings in the team didn't help. The younger guys should have been trusted sooner. But as poor as United were Chelsea hardly made a chance apart from the actual goals they scored.

Ha, ha, that's hilarious...you're still going on about ref decisions from last season!

BR, we're not bitter. One day you might taste a little success. ;-)

I didn't think it was a pen on Park - on first inspection it appeared he'd lost control of the ball. Although Sky kept running their low angle shots (rather than the grandstand camera) so it did look like he was still in control they also appeared to show Park sticking his body into the defender to make the most of the challenge.

Anyway, great stoppage time winner from Bendtner for the Gunners. 90+4 !

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
