Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been given the go ahead to move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney. Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis says the club can afford the England international

The above was taken from the BBC Football gossip site. I genuinely hope we don't go for Shrek, this is a man who was famously "once ablue, always a blue" and shafted his current club twice for a pay increase. You're best suited where you are son.

Loyal players don't exist, and he is a prime example, he's shafted his current club twice, and why Fergie bowed to his last demand is beyond me. I hope we fcuk him right off.

I do get where you're coming from in general, but I think you might be a tad unfair on the lad.

a 16 year old kid says he wants to stay with the team he's supported since he was a boy, somehting he really still was.

Big club come in, who wouldn't say no?

THen he sees players who aren't as good as him earning tens of thousands a week a significant percentage more than him for doing the same job. Who among us hasn't had their nose put out of joint on a similar discovery in one's own work place or discovering a friend earns more than you for the same job.

Every normal person would seek a new job,and on finding this out an employer who values your contribution will negotiate higher pay.

This isn't shafting anyone, its absolutely normal practice in the normal world.

Football is no longer jumpers for goalposts, it's a business with professional workers.

I think you seek too high a standard of it's practictioners.

I think you've pretty much nailed it EP. This 'loyalty' thing is all a bit one-eyed. Also need to factor in that clubs only show loyalty when it suits them. Where is the loyalty to the 16 year old apprentices who gets kicked out for not making the grade? Where's the loyalty to players that are transfer listed and sold, or used as a makeweight in a big deal?

As for Rooney, he's still 'a Blue' in that he's an Everton supporter, and that won't change whoever he plays for. From the perspective of a football fan myself, I don't have a problem with that...

My point is this, here is a guy that told United he wanted to move on because he didn't like the direction they were going in, and Fergie stood for it. Lets not forget the stars he's kicked into to touch for lesser crimes, and he stood still for his outrageous demands. That wasn't a good move for football or for the club, and he's doing it again. I certainly don't think he's the answer to our problems, he's got baggage and we don't need anymore. Plus if Wengers scouting network is as good as we're lead to belive I'm sure there are far more options out there without the baggage/expense.

My point is this, here is a guy that told United Arsenal he wanted to move on because he didn't like the direction they were going in...

We know she has started wandering up Friern Rd and further we guess but we imagine she has been spooked by Halloween / Fireworks goings on. She is a grey Siberian mix with some brown stripes down her, very friendly and likes to eat. Please let us know

    • The problem this year is that 5th November falls on a Wednesday. So some places will be bringing their "bonfire night" forward to Saturday 1st and some will be knocking it back to Saturday 8th and there'll probably be a few that just go with Wednesday 5th anyway. If you're doing a public display, having it on a weekend gets more crowds. Which basically means a solid week of fireworks.
