Crikey I can't believe I'm reading this.

Have you ventured into SE15 at all this decade?

Lots of very yummy brunch options without an egg to be seen.

Try Tupi, for a start!

Chillout Sue....it's nothing to get worked up abouut...we're just talking eggs:)

Im very pleased that there are an increasing number of cafes with more adventurous breakfast menus, and i often viit them, I think it's great to see that things are moving into a new post-egg world. I'm just saying that most cafes still have very egg heavy menus.....

Anyway....hopefully we've got to the yolk of the issue....

It's OK. Australians can't help it. Bragging about Oz appears to be some sort of involuntary reflex action.

Either a custard bream or Cod-nobs.

Tase your wares?

Isn't that a bit over the top?

:))

BTW you have to leave out the hyphen to do a smiley on here :)

DO you know what, I totally agree. Hence am very dissapointed in myself, as I've been here long enough to cringe at other aussies, and mock them for being so ozcentric about everything. Australians who have never lived outside of Australia are the worst.

anyway. we're waaaaaay off topic.....Saucy...cant wait....

Thanks for the update Jules, sounds great, I've been to Roast a few times and the food was excellent, love that you're sourcing all the produce locally, including the beer :-)

We'll being booking in as soon as you open!

All the best with the re-furb.

  • 4 weeks later...

It was sad to see the institution that was Curry Cabin go. My family were frequent customers there from the day we moved to East Dulwich in 1988.

Hopefully Saucy Chips can add something new to the Lordship Lane eating experience that can build similar levels of loyalty that the Curry Cabin enjoyed.

Very best of luck!

    • I had certainly heard that Helen Hayes was planning to stand down from being an MP - although I don't think I've seen that confirmed anywhere that I recall. If so, that is a shame, she was generally very competent and she knew the area well. A very good constituency MP and  had performed reasonably creditably in a minor Front Bench role. A loss to Parliamentary politics, in my view, if she is standing down.
    • We've just bought a previously tenanted flat which has come with a large amount of cutlery and cooking utensils which we'd be happy to give away.
    • Sadly this means for those of us who live within this ward the brilliant Helen Hayes will no longer represent us (that is if she's standing again). The Labour candidate for Lewisham West and East Dulwich is Ellie Reeves who has been MP for West Lewisham and Penge before the redrawing of boundaries.  She is sister to Rachel Reeves.
    • Highly recommend Kam Thompson (of Bascoe & Reid) for all your painting and decorating needs.  We've had him back many times and he has now painted our whole house to a fantastic standard. He is also great to have around. His number is 07949507412
