err... good spot Brendan!

And as I've said before, it's not litter, it's "kindly leaving something worthwhile to read for the next person"

But thanks Michael - I know have inspiration for my new forum ID

"MrFlogandburnanybodywhodrivestoasupermarkettodotheirshoppingratherthanfloggingupanddownLorshipLanewithashoppingtrolly"

Oh Mr Administrator???!!!

PS I flog up and down Lordship Lane without a shopping trolley. And I live further away. And up the hill (he says smugly)

You're obviously lucky he didn't stab you *Bob*, I hear he does that if he feels that he's been dissed.

Alan, my wedding was fab thanks, but Polly was a blushing bride, and so in my opinion, more deserving of the accolade.

Oh, and your mum sounds very sweet! You've obviously inherited a lot of your personality from her.

Mike

I nearly typed a whole bunch of stuff that you would have loved - but let's be fair to the thread title and we'll take our whimsy elsewhere (or at least I would if I had as much time as I used to)

One of my favourite threads of the years was the "Enemies of Reason" thread... plenty of heat under that one

I also got involved in a political/economic debate with downsouth and Marmora Man (which somebody claims I lost!!) which had plenty of back and forth but also nuff spect

Tanks a million Sean for gettiing this back on track (and diverting some heat off your fair self) One of my favourite threads was the "ED is becoming less diverse as a result of recent Demog. changes" one, because it showed how balanced a discussion the forum could generate...er, until someone mentioned ethnic cleansing.

Having had a look back, I like this rather bizarre thread about Snorky... Who was 140183???

Most of all I like the summer trip the forumites took to Rancho Relaxo (was quite funny as Sean got well in to the whole cowboy thing, even though it wasn't that sort of Ranch)! ;-)

For cats everywhere, EDF 2007 was a fateful year - bringing as it did the exploitation an electronic weapon against their perpetual quest for freedom. Until EDF, public attempts to restrict cat liberty had been limited mainly to flyers attached to tree trunks and lamposts. Cats had long been adept at tearing down and defacing these under cover of darkness. But EDF offered the cat captors a new tool. Emboldened by notable early successes, "lost" cat threads soon gained momentum and by Q4 were trending up 143% on a sequential quarterly basis.

The "lost" cats, desperate for privacy, attempted diversionary abductions of welly boots and even, on one occasion, a cornet, but these attempts were soon foiled, and the cat owners of East Duwlich were once more triumphant. Eventually, the cat owners felt confident enough to announce their own organisation publicly, and formed CatWatch, to ensure that all cats everywhere would be watched all the time. The compulsory wearing of loud bells, ID tags and high vis collars for all cats were proposed, and cats were banned from leaving their houses without the permission of local CatWatch enforcers, who by this time had taken to their distinctively intimidating uniform of brown cardigans and comfy slippers. If cats were spotted at liberty they were to be lured into Catwatch holding centres and detained without milk until "collection" by the Brown Cardies.

EDF 2007 was, for cats everywhere, a vision of the future - a human eye glaring down on the feline face for ever.

For me the Occasion of the Year was on March 08 at 11:21AM. The The Willow Armed Robbery / gun crime in ED thread went so far off topic when people began talking about Polly's got some engagement news that the Administrator gave up trying to stop people from chatting on serious threads and The Lounge was created.

It's amusing that a Google search on Lounged shows the East Dulwich Forum at the top, with the discussion Re: Vomit on the 176 (Lounged).

    • You literally just edited your earlier reply to remove the point you made about it being “politicians”.  Then you call me pathetic.    I’m  not trying to say you approve any of the ugly right wing nonsense.  But I AM Saying your earlier post suggesting  violent rhetoric being “left wing” was one-sided and incorrect
    • I never said that. Saying I don’t like some of the rhetoric coming from the left doesn’t mean I approve of Farage et al saying that Afghans being brought here to protect their lives and thank them for their service means there is an incalculable threat to women.    Anything to score a cheap point. It’s pretty pathetic.
    • To be fair we are as hosed as the majority of other countries post-Covid. The problem is Labour promised way too much and leant in on the we need change and we will deliver it and it was clear to anyone with a modicum of sense that no change was going to happen quickly and actually taking the reigns may have been a massive poison- chalice. As Labour are finding to their cost - there are no easy answers.  A wealth tax seems straightforward but look how Labour have U-turned on elements of non-dom - why? Because the super rich started leaving the country in their droves and whilst we all may want them to pay more tax they already pay a big chunk already and the government saw there was a problem.
    • You don’t think there are right-wing politicians fanning this with rhetoric? Really?
