Harry - we have a spot booked in the left hand bar (as you face the pub) and by 9pm or so I'd be amazed if you couldn't tell if it was us or not!

Or you could do what I did at my first one and wander into clusters of people with a look that says "??????" and 10 times out of 10 someone will say "you looking for the forum - that's us"

See you there

PS thanks CWALD for sorting out my typing - it's gone to the fogs lately ;-)

Morning all!

Just arrived a work with time for a quick cooked breakfast (the only thing a hospital canteen is good for) before starting my shift.

Great fun last night, lovely to see people again and some new faces.

Right, off to save lives and stamp out disease.

ps - completely forgot last night - Bellenden Belle texted me to say she couldn't make it after all and I promised to say hi form her and make her apologies then promptly forgot. Sorry BB!

Yeah, everytime I ordered drinks, the one with the glasses on slammed every glass down on the bar like he was annoyed at me for bothering him!

On the bright side, I'm pretty sure he undercharged me twice... Normally I would say something, but with an attitude like that, I hope it comes out of his wages!

Ooh, Err! Very nice evening indeed. Met some lovely people for the first time plus the regular friendly faces. Thought the inflatable *Bob* and Alan propped up at the bar was a masterstroke. Look forward to the next gathering.

Thanks for organising another great evening Georgia.

like I said annaj, a heart of darkest evil

keef, I had the same attitude from them. Not only that but all evening everytime they had to walk through the group it was non stop tuttage. If it was just one bar staff having a bad night I'd say fair enough but they just seemed to collectively dislike us before we got through the door. Owned by the same group as The Plough and the difference in attitude is like chalk and cheese

Lot's of new people last night, most of whom I didn't get to talk to anything like as much as I wanted to - we had Hibbs, Kalamity Kel, buggie, chuff, SteveT (wish I'd read his getting-to-know-you entry before I spoke to him as well), Nuala Coll and others - apologies to those I've forgotten

Oh yes - Jah was introducing a friend of his, and said his friend was just a shy lurker - the friend took umbrage at this and said "I do more than lurk".. "Do you!?" ... "yes!" ... "who as??" ... "EdOldie" .. "you're not EDOldie!!!"... and so on and on... t'was most amusing

CWALD - where DID you end up last night? Last I saw was you deciding on a last minute change of planning and heading for the Walworth Rd?

and there I was thinking they just didn't like me.

I managed to salvage about 5 photos from last night and here they are.

I wuold like to point out that the first one genuinely is the carpet in Oriwisu Spot, and what a nice welcoming (and superlatively late opening) place it was too!!!

I dropped in for the last hour having had a late swim at the pulse and met lots of 'names' and spent the majority of the evening talking to Bagpuss whose name I've always liked since a kid as it was such a quality programme, and CWALD whom everyone calls affectionately 'Chav'. They were most patient with my dodgy hearing and repeated things when I leaned towards them hand pressed to lobe. Sean McG spoke to me and had not a trace of Irish brogue? I saw 'Mark' the founder across a crowded room and he reminded me of a youthful Ian Hislop from the 'Have I got news 4u'. Annaj, Asset, MLteenie, Michael Paleologous (such an easy guy and such a difficult name) they were all there inc Mockney who said he wouldn't.

Just a thought now it is getting bigger what about name tags?

Does anyone know a badge maker? Would it be a good idea? Discuss!

PS I shall go earlier next time and anyone else who has never ventured to a forum 'do' have no fears, it is like meeting old friends that you dont recognise.

Yep - a great evening and considering I'd resigned my self to a quiet night in, I'm glad that I went out in the end.

Great to meet some new faces too :)-D

Salvage Mockney? You and Andrew were like the paparazzi last night, did someone half inch your cameras to stop you snapping? ;-)

Morning!

Feel a bit rough. We'd already had a couple before we went to Sema Thai (recommended) and thence to the drink-up.

Lots of good folks there. CitizenED, Sean, Michael, SteveT (you're spot on, BTW), Lozzy, Bagpuss, Buggie, Ladygooner (warm up those Motown 45s, woman!), Jah, Keef, and Andrew were those I chatted to, and saw other faces that I haven't yet met properly. The drinking was fast and so was the night unfortunately. I genuinely wanted to go to the Drum afterwards, but thank the Lawd I didn't! You never get out of there alive!

It's my birthday today so I'm going t get on the champers and choccie after I've had a fry-up. Didn't catch the name of the person whose birthday it was last night but hope you enjoyed yourself.

Lotsa love to you all! See you at the next one.

    • I've found it quite a useful thread.  Apparently protein powders are toxic. Not that I have ever, or will ever, try them.   https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/the-hidden-dangers-of-protein-powders
    • Personally can’t stand carpets however where I am renting has carpet in  bedroom and hall. Not great quality and certainly not cleaned. Was  in B & M recently and looking at carpet shampoo -wow got a can costing £2.99 to test.. No scrubbing as others seemed to imply. Spray, leave and poof - smells great, no dabbing or scrubbing and c leaving rubbish. First to admit is only temp solution but no need to hire carpet cleaner instantly  or pay for a company to come and deal with professionally. For 3/6 months happy to have used this - Have a carpet cleaner and in a month or so plan to use it.    Buy a steam cleaner for floors - not expensive - much better than mop and bucket and more hygienic all round. Can pick up second hand ones on e bay.
    • Is this a true story? What protein powder causes kidney damage? Why didn't you cite an article? I shop at H&B, mostly to buy their castor oil, however, I would recommend researching any product beforehand. They do have very informative articles on their website. To be honest, I don't see the point of this post. You could have just taken the product back for a refund or complained in store and in writing.
    • Well the Italian on Lordship Lane  recommended here was delicious.  Thank you so very much -my party were extremely pleased with ambience, location and lovely food plus puddings to die for. They are also on Deliveroo.  Will certainly be back when I am back in 6 weeks time. Went past Love Dulwich at lunchtime on my way to Italian - only a party of 2 - food might be excellent but decided to give it a miss - wasn’t impressed with manager who admitted he had only been there 2 weeks. Might be being totally unfair but doubt it, as no comments since about a month ago from Pugwash.
