Nearest bluebell woods to ED?

As the title says, I'm feeling the need to revel in nature's beauty and wondered where our nearest bluebell woods might be - can anyone recommend any? Happy to drive or travel by train.

Hi Sillywoman . you cant be silly to want to revel in Bluebells, done it many a time and the nearest is

Abbey Woods just passed the abbey. But the best place is Kent, you can lay in them and go to sleep (on a Sunny day)

Saw a whole load earlier in the week on the Green Chain walk - would recommend Lesnes Abbey in Bexley!

Do you mean Greendale gumshoe? I've always known the area to be Greendale but seems it's now known as Green Dale?

Can't find a bluebell woods in green dale Bromley online. Is it the Darwin house are that you are referring to? Could you attach a link please? I'd like to go today, sounds lovely.

It depends on how much you're really looking for, but I went for a walk through the woods at Beckenham Place Park yesterday and bluebells were aplenty.

It's a little way out of town but Westerham in Kent has huge areas of woodland nearby - Westerham Woods itself but then The Chart (Limpsfield), Squerry's Park and Toy's Hill and they're all superb for bluebells. Toy's Hill has good car parking, pubs nearby etc but there are miles and miles of random footpaths through woodland around that area. It's always a carpet of blue this time of year, looks stunning.

I can also recommend the woods on the Greensand Way east of Ide Hill. Grab a coffee and cake at the community shop while you're there.

The former Bethlem Hospital, fabulous grounds and also art exhibitions etc in the house. They do a guided bluebell woods walk around this time of year.

Which one? There were at least 4 sites for Bedlam - including what is now The Imperial War Museum. Bethlem Royal Hospital (aka St Mary Bethlehem) in Beckenham is the current site - and is still a working hospital, part of the South London and Maudsley Trust - with fine grounds and a central House which acts as a Museum (Museum of the Mind).
