sillywoman
As the title says, I'm feeling the need to revel in nature's beauty and wondered where our nearest bluebell woods might be - can anyone recommend any? Happy to drive or travel by train. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/224243-nearest-bluebell-woods-to-ed/ Share on other sites
garages2018
Hi Sillywoman . you cant be silly to want to revel in Bluebells, done it many a time and the nearest isAbbey Woods just passed the abbey. But the best place is Kent, you can lay in them and go to sleep (on a Sunny day) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/224243-nearest-bluebell-woods-to-ed/#findComment-1333148 Share on other sites

Passiflora
Do you mean Greendale gumshoe? I've always known the area to be Greendale but seems it's now known as Green Dale? pjal
Did this walk last weekend - half hour drive and it takes you through the middle of gorgeous bluebell woods and countryside https://www.bromley.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/780/darwins_footsteps_-_downe_valley_trail.pdfWe got a bit lost on the way back to Biggin Hill mind so google maps came to the rescue Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/224243-nearest-bluebell-woods-to-ed/#findComment-1333191 Share on other sites

Dom Johnston
It depends on how much you're really looking for, but I went for a walk through the woods at Beckenham Place Park yesterday and bluebells were aplenty. exdulwicher
It's a little way out of town but Westerham in Kent has huge areas of woodland nearby - Westerham Woods itself but then The Chart (Limpsfield), Squerry's Park and Toy's Hill and they're all superb for bluebells. Toy's Hill has good car parking, pubs nearby etc but there are miles and miles of random footpaths through woodland around that area. It's always a carpet of blue this time of year, looks stunning. mikeb
I can also recommend the woods on the Greensand Way east of Ide Hill. Grab a coffee and cake at the community shop while you're there. Penguin68
The former Bethlem HospitalWhich one? There were at least 4 sites for Bedlam - including what is now The Imperial War Museum. Bethlem Royal Hospital (aka St Mary Bethlehem) in Beckenham is the current site - and is still a working hospital, part of the South London and Maudsley Trust - with fine grounds and a central House which acts as a Museum (Museum of the Mind).https://www.nhs.uk/Services/hospitals/Overview/DefaultView.aspx?id=RV505 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/224243-nearest-bluebell-woods-to-ed/#findComment-1334542 Share on other sites
