Mockney, I would argue with the definition of what is a vegetable. As I was taught a fruit grows from a flower and has the seed inside it and a vegetable - doesn't. Therefore strawberries are most definitely a fruit as are tomatoes.

If this is based on Desert Island Discs then the choice should be 8.

However,

Potato

Onion

Kale

beetroot

fennel

Ha! Definitely agree with you there, especially brocolli, cauliflower or brussel sprouts:-) With a lovely cheese sauce!

Mushrooms

Spring Onions

Potatoes

Swede

Pumpkin

For anyone who is interested in the Brussels Sprout soup recipe...

Fry a medium onion in butter until translucent. Add in yesterday's pre-cooked brussels sprouts, along with 1 or two of yesterday's potatoes (to thicken it up). When all mixed, cover with ham stock. Simmer for around 20 minutes. Blend, and just before serving, crumble in STILTON (not cream) to taste. (You may need to reheat it if if it has cooled down, to melt in the stilton).

Enjoy...

    • The frequency of fireworks seems to be increasing. If revellers selected the low noise variety that would help, but the trend seems to be the louder the better. I do not think sensitivity to stimuli is the same as timidity. Unexpected, extremely loud bangs and unusual noises will startle most of us. Humans, unlike other animals, have the luxury of knowing what fireworks are and what the noise represents. Some animals do learn to cope but many do not. It could be their hearing is not as sensitive. We should not forget that many animals, including cats and dogs have hearing that is much more developed than ours.
