My wife just had a nightmare getting home from Denmark Hill train station. She was told there a lot of roads closed and buses are struggling to get through

Just found this about whats happened

http://www.itv.com/news/london/story/2012-04-03/camberwell-explosion/

Just thought it would be helpful for people trying to get home to know. Guess Forest Hill is the best alternative for most of us

Came past it on the 176. Fire in a building behind a hair salon immediatly to the left of the Camberwell Sexual Health Clinic.

We got through because it had only just broken out, one Police car on scene at that point, Fire Engines came belting down Denmark Hill as we drove on.

You mean East Dulwich Road, not Grove.

Your quite right. I suspect that it was typed up quickly as the incident was happening and someone got there Groves and Road muddled. I am sure the buses went the correct way.

13 non sarcastic/caustic/rude etc comments in a row just too many to cope with southmark? Well done for making the first one. Hopefully you feel better now.

I for one have given myself a good talking to about what a heartless individual I am for trying to help other forum users get home. It's comments like that, that stop people bothering to post on here.

The point of the post was about the state of public transport and how to get home, not the particular incident. Of course we are all concerned for anyone that has been affected, I thought that would go without saying, but apparently not.

I look forward to your next attempt to make everyone feel bad/small

    • Thanks penguin  always wondered about that place and that’s way more info than I ever thought I would get  (used to live above a gun nut on friern road - he would tell me nothing)
    • There was a Saturday afternoon crowd of enthusiasts, and at other times the owner might have been off acquiring stock. He also repaired air guns, which he also sold. He stocked edged weapons, uniforms, including antique uniforms, air guns and ammo and starting pistols and shot. Some medals and other militaria. Quite a lot of ex service chit chat on a Saturday. I had an amateur interest, didn't deal a lot, in English pattern swords and other mainly 19th century militaria. And made some good purchases there. I'm afraid WWII and later events was the major focus of most of the regulars.
    • Did anyone actually venture in to that place? I recall it always being closed/very uninviting!
