Michael Palaeologus
Over a weekend I often cook a big batch of something - bolognese, casserole, etc. I freeze most of it and these then make handy meals during the week. Also:Use lemon juice to clean your family jewels, it may sting a little - but they smell nice and zesty afterwards. Delicious!! I was going to add this myself! I must concur this is v yummy - also it is good to add some coriander. (here is a top tip courstesy of "Cooking like Mummyji" - when you buy fresh coriander, wash it and chop it up and put in freezer - it still works fine). LibraCarr
Hi,Just a quick hint. When we are prepping salads we place ground black pepper on the salad leaves. when the leaves are laid put the fruits (tomato, peppers, cucumber etc)on top. Then place finely chopped coriander (chopper available from Ikea) on the top. Garnish till you have reached the top of the bowl, cover in cling film and leave in the fridge at a low temp for a hour. the flavour of the coriander, herbs, and pepper make a really tasty salad. Marmora Man
Tonight I'm cooking - all from Lordship Lane.Steak (William Rose), mushrooms, spicy sweet potato wedges, steamed purple broccoli (Pretty Traditional), cheese (Cheese Block) and a Zinfandel from Green & Blue. Also made some lemon curd this afternoon - lemons & sugar from SMBS, to blow away rainy Sunday blues. SeanMacGabhann
Marmora Man - I have mean to comment on several other threads about your patronage of LL small establishments (as opposed to the Supermarkets) and say how, although you probably know already, how On Your Side I am..but that list there tipped me over the edge - I applaud you sir Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2324-what-shall-i-cook-tonight/page/2/#findComment-87633 Share on other sites

annaj
Oooooh, can't resist, just to annoy Sean here's my list, almost all the ingredients from Sainsburys this morning (last minute lunch guest)Soda bread and smoked salmonSirloin steaks on rosemary potatoes and lemon rocket saladChocolate brownies with hot chocolate sauce and Green & Blacks vanilla ice-cream. To save me from going straight to hell for supermarket usage I should say it was all cooked from scratch and the soda bread was homemade with buttermilk from SMBS. Bellenden Belle
I have just had homemade fajitas (chicken with peppers and red onion) - served with homemade guacomale - all ingredients bought at Sainsbury's (yes, shoot me, shoot me now) ... and very yummy indeed. The one redeeming feature is that aside from the tortilla wraps, all ingredients were organic.Twas almost as good as last night's meatloaf with organic streaky bacon wrapped round it - a recipe from Mama Cherri's Soul Food cookbook. Oooooh it was lovely - and I convinced myself that with celery, peppers, garlic and onions all included it Wasn't That Unhealthy Really. And can I just add... I was in the queue at Sainsbury's last night with Other Forumers. I shall reveal no more....
