East Dulwich should adopt the Indian Restaurant Local Delivery Policy.. of 3 mile Radius.

That would mean that M&S on the Walworth Road would technically be in the East Dulwich Local Area.

M&S Saga Solved.

Very true. Can understand a Waitrose possibly making a more dramatic impact.

Is this true James? it seems to have been contradicted sightly by subsequent posts.

eg:

"Entirely up to the freeholder - But I'd expect them to make a quick decision OR extend Iceland lease beyond January"

So Iceland are not definitely out of the equation?

Edited to add a question mark...

Brilliant documentary about Iceland on BBC2 last night. Despite a lot of the snobbery aimed at them, they are very strict on where their food is sourced from and what goes into each product, as well as being good value for money. They also do quite a lot of positive things for their staff as anyone who watched last nights documentary will have noticed. I'm now thinking maybe we should do more to support them staying on LL by shopping there more regularly, rather than opting for the unknown.

Louisa.

Tried and trusted formula MM. Bejams/Iceland have been on LL for nearly 30 years, and I've always loved them. They serve a large proportion of the local population and if we all supported them it would guarantee we don't end up with an empty retail spot on the high street, something none of us want. The M&S/Waitrose thing has gone on too long, let's just forget about them.

Louisa.

If this thread makes 50 pages, Admin should seriously consider shutting down the forum.

I'm not a massive Louisa fan by any means, but I couldnt have put it better:

"The M&S/Waitrose thing has gone on too long, let's just forget about them."

Almost beer o'clock.

I can't be bothered to scroll through all the posts, but there is a chap that always gives rather long, wordy and (if I may say so) slightly pompous posts. Just one post from him should take us over the ghastly 49 page plateau.

    • And no queues at 1130 yesterday. Maybe everyone's had enough and switched to the Yodel and Evri app.
    • Hi there guys, I hope you're well.  I've recently done a term of Dance Yourself Fit, which began with a class at the Harris Girls Academy on the Nunhead side of the Rye, then transferred to the Charter School for Girls up by the old ED hospital. It's been so good and all the women attending have loved it too, but due to exams being on next term the classes are being discontinued in East Dulwich, much to our disappointment. They're moving them to Streatham, but that is not convenient for me and many of the others. This is a link to their site in case anyone is interested though: https://www.danceyourselffit.com I'm now looking for a replacement class that's not too expensive, keeps me moving energetically for an hour and is local and hopefully less than a tenner per lesson (this was about £72 for 8 classes I think?). Does anyone know of anything? I'm also looking for low-cost pilates classes to join too, if anyone has any recommendations for those too? Very best,  Eleanor  Also, just to add, what's been so nice is that it HASN'T been in a gym with lots of lively young lithe gazelle like creatures hopping about. It's been extremely inclusive for women of all sizes and shapes and really nice that it's been in schools not gyms. Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed!
    • I'd also like to highly recommend Niko. He just replaced the extraction fan in our bathroom, having previously installed a new tap for us. Fast, professional and a really great guy.
    • Agree with this. He's stood down from his role in Cabinet having left the Party, but he was elected as a representative of all the constituents in his ward and logic suggests that he should continue to represent them as a councillor for his remaining 3 months. He might wish to stand again, as a Green, in that ward (if he's chosen) and hope that personal loyalty to him might transfer, but that's now the call of his (new) party and him. He will have to balance that with a view about how many of his Labour supporters will feel sufficiently betrayed to continue to support Labour. I suspect, I may be wrong, that he will not have a cabinet position open to him after May (unless the Greens sweep in locally) so presumably he will have to consider his next career move, and whether that's back to full-time primary teaching.
