lizbells6
Has anyone tried these to stop smoking? If so, did they work and can you recommend a brand? I'm a bit suspicious of glowing feedbacks from sellers websites. (I've tried just about everything else!). steveo
I had a Smart Smoker kit (the one Johnny Depp smokes in The Tourist, not that I'm influenced by that sort of thing). It was OK if a bit expensive to run. I suggest you get a small bottle of the fluid rather than buying the expensive pellet thingies. It was good for a while though, particularly when you're in a pub and all your mates disappear outside every ten minutes. You do have to keep remembering to charge the damned thing of course, but then I noticed I was coughing a bit in the mornings, which strangely never happened with fags. The vapour congests the chest I think. so I just quit fags and it.Ronnie Wood uses one but apparently has a cig as well every now and again, and it is true, sometimes you puff on the e cigarette for a bit and then think, Mmm, I'd like a cigarette now.Apart from the fleeting moments when I could chew someone's arm off for a drag on a cig, I haven't given in yet and it's definitely good for the soul to kick tobacco.Good luck! maxxi
lizbells6 - there's a 'stopping smoking' thread here which might have a few more tips. Didn't go the leccy-fag route as I was trying to get away from sucking on something (just made me want to smoke) so I am still using these - http://www.google.co.uk/url?source=imglanding&ct=img&q=http://cached.imagescaler.hbpl.co.uk/resize/scaleToFit/393/263/?sURL=http://offlinehbpl.hbpl.co.uk/news/2MM/DD50BA76-BF64-46A1-2EB817380D58DF45.jpg&sa=X&ei=jjqAT6fxEsL48QP5z-2JBg&ved=0CAwQ8wc&usg=AFQjCNFPhegwMzKpNDIoKidpCpe9OZ5HSg - they're not cheap but you can get a twin pack on prescription.(6 weeks and 2 days - not that I'm counting...) Peckhamgatecrasher
I've tried one. It tasted disgusting, even worse than Marlboro' Lights. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23438-electronic-cigarettes/#findComment-544069 Share on other sites

uncleglen
Someone I know has tried several types and says to check out the reviews on you-tube. There is a man on there called Scott "igetcha69" and he reviewed lots of brands. A good place to start is the Tornado e cig. If you do get into it, the guy I know also says mix your own e liquid, it's far cheaper in the long run. giggirl
I have a friend who was a 40 a day man who gave up using an electronic cigarette. I have another friend who failed though. It's worth a try. I don't know how anyone can afford cigarettes these days. Ann
Definitely use a patch plus another form of nicotine replacement, these have statistically been shown to have the best results along side a specialist counselor. Your GP can arrange this. All nicotine replacements are available on prescription which should work out much cheaper than over the counter and much more than cigarettes themselves!Good luck. Multifish
I use an electronic cigarette, I'd say the titan 510 is quite good to start with, it's quite discreet and easy to use, you just charge its battery and top it up with juice when it needs a top up, i used to use one and it helped me through the first few months of quitting. The bottles of juice you use with it contains nicotine so if you have children or pets you can't leave it lying around, safety first ;). There are better ones than the titan 510, so if you want to dive in at the deep end then I'd go for a clearomiser and torpedo, you inject the juice into the atomiser and you can put the voltage up and down to give the atomiser an extra boost, it has a little bit of a kick to it! lizbells6
Thanks so much for the latest advice and to those who PM'd me. As usual, after a few days on constant dose patches, I'm craving the instant "hit" of a cigarette so recommendations for types of electronic ones and suggestion of adding extra NRT much appreciated. edcam
I stopped smoking 8 months ago and have been using one of these:https://www.aspirecig.com/aspire-kits/aspire-kits479.htmlThey take pods, so you don't have to fart around with bottles of liquids and coils, which I found too much of a faff. It's more expensive than the usual vaping methods but still LOADS cheaper than cigarettes. It's really worked for me! TheArtfulDogger
What I don't understand about e cigarettes is why people using them feel it's fine to do so in placed where smoking is otherwise banned including pubs and resturants They still produce a smoke of sorts which has a smell that may be offensive to others.. It will be interesting to see how long it is before, like San Francisco and soon India , they are banned from use in public places. https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-politics/govt-decides-ban-e-cigarettes-labelled-drugs/story/360880.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23438-electronic-cigarettes/#findComment-1351058 Share on other sites
caz
I was a smoker for more than 40 years. I'd tried everything to try to stop, patches, pills, counselling , hypnotherapy ect. I tried vaping on December 1st 2016 and haven't had, more importantly haven't wanted a fag since. I'm beyond thrilled as is my family. Also I'm saving around ?200 a month so definitely a win win situation.I have 1 aspire k2 and 1 aspire k3. One I leave at home the other is my take out one. Also always have a bottle of the liquid in my bag. I find that by having 2 one of them is always charged and I always make sure I have a good stock of the liquid. That way even though I don't think I'd succumb to having a cigarette I'm covered in the event that if I'm out my vape is always working.I started with the 12 mg but am down to the 6 mg and will go down to the lowest dose soon. I definitely don't vape as much as I used to smoke and the need to vape lessens as time goes on. NewWave
I use VIP you can buy them online, very happy I use the ones that look like cigarettes very slim and don't blow tons of smoke. If you buy in multi packs its pretty reasonable. edcam
Personally I've never seen this happen, although I don't doubt it does. Banning them in public places doesn't really help with the push to make/help people quit smoking though.TheArtfulDogger Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> What I don't understand about e cigarettes is why> people using them feel it's fine to do so in> placed where smoking is otherwise banned including> pubs and resturants > > They still produce a smoke of sorts which has a> smell that may be offensive to others.. > > It will be interesting to see how long it is> before, like San Francisco and soon India , they> are banned from use in public places. > > https://www.businesstoday.in/current/economy-polit> ics/govt-decides-ban-e-cigarettes-labelled-drugs/s> tory/360880.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23438-electronic-cigarettes/#findComment-1351263 Share on other sites
SpringTime
Yes they helped me quit. I am a keen vaper now and enjoy all the benefits of vaping over smoking. Having tried patches, gum and willpower I kept slipping back to ciggies but can now say confidently that I very rarely fancy a smoke these days. I use these https://www.geekvape.com/project/aegis/ Took me a while to find the kit I was happy with but these are great and I have two. I now have more pocket money, don't stink of smoke, have more time, and better health; skin, teeth, lost a little weight due to exercising again, sleep better, etc. It'd be silly to crack down on vaping if it meant people reverted to smoking... seenbeen
I wish -like new York- cigarette smoking could be banned from pavement cafes and pub gardens because at this time of year you go for a nice coffee, sit outside and be promptly surrounded by clouds of smoke. E-cig vapours do not bother me at all...the 'smoke' is the same stuff that is used for 'smoke' on stage Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23438-electronic-cigarettes/#findComment-1351479 Share on other sites

A higher level nicotine e-cig will give the user about 100% the typical nicotine dosage of a tobacco cigarette. Finally, for the extra high level, this would have approximately 120% of a tobacco cigarette?s nicotine level. Stage Smoke does not contain Nicotine DulwichFox Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23438-electronic-cigarettes/#findComment-1351655 Share on other sites
Humdinger
Its not even smoke, its vapour. completely harmless. You will be breathing in more dangerous air near a busy road from car exhausts.
