And another recommendation for knight and sons, emailed paul this morning ([email protected]) and he came around within a couple of hours and removed probably two tons of old bricks, it was an awkward job as the bricks were at the end of the garden and he had to carry them through the house. Very professional, clean and tidy and very reasonable. His number is 07985104027

Had some household rubbish removed by Paul @ knights & son

They arrived on time, cleared everything quickly and efficiently. Nice friendly, helpful guys. All insurance & licences shown. Reasonably priced & professional. Will definitely use again and highly recommend!

Can't recommend Paul and his team at Knight and Sons enough!

Three sheds removed from our garden with no access except through the living room and out front door. Quick response to assess and quote and returned on Saturday to demolish and clear all three sheds, some rubbish and a concrete pillar.

Polite, professional, respectful (as we are shielding), reasonable, clean & tidy, friendly and helpful guys. Will definitely use Knight and Sons again!

Another recommendation for Paul at Knight & Sons.

We have used them them twice in the last few weeks, removing an old garden shed and paving slabs, and also clearing a load of garden waste. Very reasonably priced, and really friendly guys. Highly recommended.

Paul came round same day - gave us a very reasonable quote to clear old decking boards and bags of rubbish. They were friendly, polite, professional and just great guys. Cleared as quickly as they came. We will definitely use them in future.

I highly recommend.

I am posting an unsolicited follow up - Paul could not fully complete my job through no fault of his own, but promised to come back at a later convenient date. He has, and the final piece of work was a pain to complete, and has been done it without complaint
I?m very happy to add my recommendation for Paul and his team. Paul came round to quote for removal of an old garden shed and returned later the same morning to carry out the work. The team was fast and efficient and took care not to damage paintwork or leave any mess when carrying the wood through the house. Excellent service.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
