snorky
Its a cynical ploy to get you to book places like the ghastly Chardon and shopw how much you love your partner by forking out tons of cash on overpriced frippery Just say nosave yer cash and go out next week when its cheaper and less crowded. RosieH
there's the romantic spirit.stay in instead and: a) cook an amazing dinner b) indulge in a bubble bath a deux c) treat yourselves to a nice bottle of bubbly and celebrate the fact that you haven't killed each other yet Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2621-valentines-day-tomorrow-any-plans/#findComment-79497 Share on other sites
*Bob*
Load of old horseshit.BUT it's a great time to spot miserable couples in restaurants.. straining for conversation as they realise this is the first proper meal out they've had together since the previous Valentine's day.. and discovering how little they actually have in common when they don't have their big group of friends to paper over the cracks. RosieH
gerry Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> What a miserable bunch!!!!! Rosie, yours sounds> wonderful....God, that's not mine. Mine will be sitting embittered on the sofa with my brother who won't move out of my very small flat 5 months after coming to stay for a couple of weeks (the bitterness is directed at him, not my single status, I won't be weeping into an australian chardonnay and singing All By Myself, well not unless there's really nothing on telly)but I do think this whole "oh I don't do Valentine's Day" thing is a cop out. you don't have to go out for an expensive meal and buy shit chocolates from thorntons - an extra reason to show someone you love / fancy / lust after them is always quite nice really. of course you should do it each and every day, but new nipple tassles every day would get prohibitively expensive Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2621-valentines-day-tomorrow-any-plans/#findComment-79534 Share on other sites
gerry
Sorry Rosie, I thought you were describing your plans. I agree, Valentine's Day can be the one and only time we make a point of renewing the romance, or else we can all end up at Relate!!! benjaminty
Kinda agree with the sentiment on most of the posts. I really don't like being told to do something at the best of times let alone sit in a restaurant and force the conversation if you really don't feel like it.... and I WON'T feel like it tomorrow! As Rosie says you should always make the effort not just because Hallmark have said so.Flowers are no big deal are they? A small price to pay me thinks .. especially with the fantastic Alan Day down the road - they really are fantastic value there. BTW - nipple tasssles are usually a xmas thing in our household! Look good with tinsel ::o Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2621-valentines-day-tomorrow-any-plans/#findComment-79542 Share on other sites

Cassius
Sorry - I don't want to be told WHEN to make a fuss of my partner. Valentine's day used to low key and fun - about getting a card from an admiring stranger - now its about materialism, consumerism and, from some newspaper articles, competition between women about who has the most money spent on them. Personally I think it stinks. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2621-valentines-day-tomorrow-any-plans/#findComment-79546 Share on other sites

ratty
My missus and I have enough of our own anniversaries (wedding, first date, first child etc etc) without needing the card companies and restaraunts telling as when to have another one! We will be spending the day as ever - cheaply!
