Recommendations for window refurbishment specialists

Hatchie, I've done LOADS of research on this very subject. In fact the last two months have been spent scouring the forum for recommendations and visiting people who've already had their windows refurbed. I had quotes from 6 companies and visits from even more. I finally whittled the search down to Sundial (they're mentioned elsewhere on here already). The company is owned by a guy called Steve Carter who's brilliant. Really knowledgeable, not in any way pushy, been in the business for ages, knows his stuff etc. He gave me some really sage advice and saved me from shelling out thousands for replacements. I spoke to other people who have used him and had only good things to say. I also went to see some windows that he'd done for someone else in ED which were very impressive. The thing that set him apart for me was not only his attention to detail but the fact that he refurbs the windows AND paints them. Not many others seem to offer that dual service. Give him a call on 07966493641. Feel free to PM me too if you want more info.

I can recommend Sundial. I recently moved to a wreck in East Dulwich and the only good thing about the refurb has been the work done to the windows. The team did a great job on windows that I thought were well beyond repair, saving me thousands in the cost of replacing them. You are welcome to come and have a look at the work. The company is run by Steve Carter 07966 493641 www.sundialps.co.uk

I have had wooden sash windows restored in various properties , over the years , by Klaus the House 07976401767, and I have always been very happy with his work, especially as he has saved me a lot of money , by not ripping them out and replacing them with new ones. I will always employ him in the future for that or any other work in wood.

Actually I?m feeling generous; so to all new customers in May & June that ask us to refurbish their sash windows the same offer applies.

Booked Steve and his team on the back of the recommendations on this thread. Thought it was worth adding a post to say that they've just finished doing the windows at the front of our house and they look fantastic, incredible transformation for windows that we thought needed complete replacement.

    • There was a consultation which provoked a huge response - 98% vehemently opposed to the proposed extension - after which GALA apparently decided to withdraw the application, citing issues with other promoters not being available, or some such reason.  I suspect that Southwark would have happily given them the licence even with such opposition. They don't seem to care that every year GALA fail to uphold all the conditions they have set for the licence, and just give them another the following year with the same conditions.  I'm afraid I get really annoyed with all the 'let people have fun' & 'they want a pretty place to dance' & 'it's really well organised' comments. If the punters that go had even an iota of respect & consideration for the park then fine, but they really don't. The amount of litter dropped is staggering - fag butts, filter tip tubes, ring pulls, bottle caps, disposable vapes - and it isn't cleared by GALA's 'waste management' team (as promised - again), so it's still all there - go and have a look. And I've said before, if you haven't witnessed the anti social behaviour that goes on around the site for the whole weekend up close, then I don't think you're in a position to comment on the effect to the local community. I personally saw men & women openly p*ssing in the park, on the streets & pavements around the park, one group having a nitrous oxide party in the street opposite our home, and chucking the canisters into the park. To say that the repair work is looking good is massively missing the point - it shouldn't need any repair work! It's a public park!! It looks like a building site in the middle of summer when it should look like a park! Where people can sit and enjoy the nature & wildlife, not try to pretend it's not really a rubbish tip.
    • Surely we are all fans of Springwatch.  Lots of nesting birds this year, on I-player for you to indulge yourselves.  Warning some video nasties including snake predation
    • Ideally NHS should let us opt out of hard copy.  In deed, I get texts and have the NHS app.  And always good to have a calender in your kitchen to write out down too.
