Laddy Muck
NO NO NO! It's my favourite for the football and decent ciders. And I LOVE the separate rooms. :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26382-hoopers/#findComment-587391 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Would be a shame if it went. But if people don't use these pubs, they won't survive. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26382-hoopers/#findComment-587407 Share on other sites
El Pibe
I don't think it'll go under.Jamie gets rental income from the flats above. I guess it just doesn't get enough revenue in the week.I think it's a great proper local, but I'm just as responsible as I rarely get to go out during the week.As long as it's still there for a pint of a weekend and during the six nations I'm still happy.I'm thinking of doing a one night a week restaurant in Ireland in a couple of years, that way you can have a go at something you enjoy without letting the business take over your life, so perhaps it just suits their lifestyle. catma
Copy of email sent by hoopers:Hi everybody! Hoopers will be reopening next Friday 2nd November at 6pm after taking a short break. Our new opening hours will be Fridays from 6pm to 12 midnight, Saturdays from 12.30pm to midnight, and Sundays from 1pm to around 6.30pm (unless, like this coming week, we have a Comedy Night), when we will close at 11pm. We have taken this step because it has not been proved viable to open all week. We understand that many people are having to make hard choices on when and where they socialise. We hope therefore that the local community will make an effort to support the venue, and the local entertainment that we bring at no cost apart from buying a drink. So we are saying Use it or Lose it!! We plan to have Live Music on most weekends, on one evening. Our first gig is Friday 9th November at 8pm, when we have Dan Maitland, local guitarist and past performer at Hoopers. He will be playing some of his own compositions, as well as some well-known standards. We would like suggestions for future gigs. Essentially they must have local support. So get your email in to us!
