Sabrina from Putney is getting rid of this 2yr old cat because "MY DAUGHTER WANTS A DOG FOR XMAS!". FFS! How long before the puppy becomes boring too? Animals aren't accessories to be disposed of on a whim.

Sabrina from Putney seems exactly the sort of selfish cow who helps populate animal shelters with unwanted pets. Full marks for honesty though, most people trying to offload an animal because they've tired of it are embarrassed enough to be a little creative with the excuse they give for wanting rid. Anyway, I hear cat in question is going to a good home tomorrow. Sad about the dog who'll be taking her place though.

Woodrot: Do you spend your life finding things to make snide comments about? Does it make you feel better about yourself?

How can the topic of animals being sold/ given away generate such vitriol on such a regular basis ? There is less hate on the Various Jimmy Saville paedogeddon threads than for animals being moved on.

The levels of monothought idiocy I see on here reminds me of those dark days when I came into prolonged contact with ALF poltroons - and thats hardly complimentary.

Heres a basic pyscological test

Which of the following sums up your outlook ?

a) the small picture

b) the big picture

c) Kittens

The point is (re this thread) that if you think pets are disposable creatures (i.e. I'm bored with my cat, so I'm going to get rid of it and get a dog) then you are an idiot who shouldn't be keeping pets. Simple really. I don't need to take your pyscological (sic) test to know that.

Aside from the last bit about 'the ethics of pet keeping on a holistic level' which is a straying from the topic a little bit, in what way has this thread got little to do with the animal itself?

Your point IS being missed (by me at least).

Unless its more about the selfish idiots who think that animals are disposable creatures that they can palm off to someone else on a whim, as said above.

The Minkey's post is hardly a hateful diatribe.

I'm not sure you are reading the thread properly.

Maybe Sabrina loves the cat and is reluctantly selling her because her super-demanding daughter insists on getting a dog. Maybe the exclamation mark signifies exasperation and a Mum at the end of her tether. So not selfish then. Just saying.

If that is the case then she's a rubbish mother. Just saying :)

Absolutely seconded. Abysmally selfish, although having said that, the cat may be better of with someone who will look after it properly. Every cloud etc.

    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
    • interesting the police said "the car was in demand at the moment" what make/model is that?
    • Just be careful to know exactly what they cover and the limits. i use Many Pets and Medivet, as I think one of the vets is exceptionally good. Some of the NHV are, but I’ve had a couple I’ve not liked at all.  I need consistency and to feel that they actually care more about the animals than the money.
