louisiana - if the mixtape is the one I'm thinking of, you should listen to the herbaliser one from the series (ninja tune?)

for mixtape podcast types, I'm liking a 'Cover me Badd' mixtape from stone's throw records. 45 minutes of some quality / hilarious cover versions.

I read all the hyperbolic reviews of LCD and bought the album, and really had to wonder why the hype.

It was just a self-indulgent, substandard Daft Punk as far as I could work out.

If anyone wants a free copy I'm happy to give it away at the next meet as it's just gathering dust.

I'm listening to Bill Callahan's (smog) new one at the mo. Strangely upbeat for him, but lovely stuff nonetheless.

I noticed last night that Dead Man's Shoes kicks off with a smog track that fitted absolutely perfectly.

Agree with you there Mockney. They are so overrated. I really liked the first LCD Soundsystem album, but even that was a bit patchy but the second one starts off OK even though it totally rips off Krafwerk and Bowie, especially on the first track. I only like about three or four tracks on the new one after that it really is insipid, uninspired, ordinary and dare I it say rather boring.

Actually in all fairness capt' I'm forever badgering people to listen to it and I'm going to have to admit to myself one day that about 2 in every three give me a 'yes piers, whatever' look. Aah well, not to everyone's taste I guess.

Enjoying this andrew bird so far, nithing stand out as yet.

Metacritic clearly like it too.

Amazingly I went in to Fopp and managed NOT to spend money. However the Camden branch is giving away the double Camden Crawl CD for free, so if you're nearby I'd grab it. 38 tracks of future stars for nowt.

Mind you I'm unconvinced of Akala's claim that..

"I'm Shakespeare reincarnated, except I spit flows and strip hos naked"

Hmm, worthy of the bard himself, I'm sure.

I'm not sure where it comes from, but it seems to like parking across the street from my house and playing that tune over and over again.

I liked it a lot better when I lived on the corner of Fellbrigg and Shawbury Road. Then it would just sound as if it were passing in the distance, reminding me of the heady days of school summer holidays.

*sigh*

    • Watching my cats over the years with foxes, I've found that foxes have totally ignored them. One exception was when a young fox hadn't seen my cat and found himself eye to eye with my cat at a distance of 1 metre. There was a stand off but the fox blinked first and my cat chased him out of the garden. So proud of her. I believe when foxes have attacked cats, the cat has been vulnerable  - old, young, ill wounded.
    • It's also possible that someone is hand feeding foxes and encouraging them by this to approach others. I have heard of foxes attacking young children (if only anecdotally) but not adults. They do seem to attack cats.
    • I've noticed the foxes are very frisky at the moment, it's mating season. Perhaps it was a male fox who saw you as a danger to his vixen and wanted to see you off.
    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
