I gather that the drains are now fixed - an assistant at Celestial told me that they had had workmen in fixing the problem so looks like all will hopefully be back to normal.

Nutty - that is the impression the assistant gave me, and I did notice that part of the back of Celestial was screened off last week as work was going on out the back.

G&B have apparently launched a legal action against Celestial for ?150,000 for loss of business.

The work took three days once access to the drains had been granted.

Rumours suggest that Celestial is already heavily in debt due to loans/mortgages to renovate/let the flats above. This action could enforce their closure if they were to lose.

I'm not sure what I think.

Like you I won't comment without all details, but if what David says is true, I think it's pretty low.

I was in G&B just over a week ago. I got chatting to the chap behind the bar and he told me the same information. While I understand how emotional it has all been, I did think at the time that it smacked somewhat of slander. I think they need to be very circumspect about the whole business.

I think they were closed for a good few weeks. Enough to have cost them ?150k.

The G&B blog doesn't offer much illumination but by the sounds of things they came close to going to the wall. Could be hyperbole though.

If they turn over 150k every few weeks, then I have even less sympathy. Celestial must have let them access the pipes in the end, so to stab them in the back after sucks.

By the sounds of that blog they were only given access after threatening legal action. Turn-over is very different to profit Keef. Granted, some costs will be lower with the restauraqnt closed but the biggest bills (rent, rates etc) will remain constant.
