I'm with you Steveo, I cant pinpoint why I find her objectionable but I do. It cant be that faint air of smugness because thats de rigeur for any ubiquitous panel show botherer. Although Perkins' ability pales when compared to her erstwhile stage partner Mel Grrfnaarfal(its Welsh and yes that is how you spell it). She has her very own 'entertainment' show on radio 4 extra at 4pm daily and as soon as her clucky, patronising tones start wafting out of the DAB like a stale turd its dial is kicked clean off in an act of extreme prejudice.
I also like Sue Perkins but did not enjoy the new comedy last night. It just wasn't funny. Although the vet character is clearly meant to be uncomfortable in her own skin, it felt like Sue Perkins was uncomfortable full stop and I found much of it a bit cringeworthy.

Surely ALL sitcoms are. For every phenomenally successful Friends import, we have to tolerate all piles of shit with characters called Raymond and their big-haired wives. (and when I say tolerate, I mean be too sick to lift the remote control).

Grandma's House was brilliant. Green Wing, Black Books ditto. They're few and far between, but then so was Friends.

Perkins much better now, ESP since geeky, shite student humour days, though let down by over produced, too clean and comfortable latest series.

Grandma's House, one trick pony, awful lead actor (worst since Baddeil tried to be Seinfeld) whose only gag was to look incredulous as stereotypes were played out around him.

Green Wing, excellent.

No dilemma with Perkins. Seriously unfunny. Weapons grade, actually. Still not as bad as "Miranda" - who has developed a form of anti-humour. She will suck the funny out of any situation. Both of them seem to consider themselves "the smartest gals in the room" yet their mateial is clod hoppingly flat footed. Our own Annette C is much funnier. Check out the recent skit featuring a fantasy flame-thrower attack on Sly and Reggie. It's on the recent Tool thread.

For filthy, clever, character based , super-un PC semi ad libbed sit com laughs try It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or The League. Both American and with much to teach our dim contemporary domestic fare.

Yes Greeen Wing was brilliant.

    • Hello East Dulwich families 👋 I wanted to introduce myself to the community. I’m a professional family & wedding photographer with 14+ years of experience, and I split my time between the US and London throughout the year. I’ll be based in London for the coming weeks and would love to photograph more local families here in East Dulwich. My approach is very relaxed and natural — no stiff posing, no pressure — just real connection, movement, and the beautiful everyday moments that tell your family’s story. I work especially well with kids and parents who feel “awkward” in front of the camera (which honestly is most of us!). Sessions can take place at home, in the park, on your favourite street, or anywhere that feels meaningful to you. The goal is to create images that feel like your life — not a photoshoot. If anyone has been thinking about documenting this season with their children, I’d love to connect, answer questions, or simply share examples of my work. No pressure at all — just happy to be here and meet some neighbours. You can see my work here: https://bluesparkphotography.com/family/ (use the contact page on the site to send me a message if you're interested!).
    • I don't! But I've also taken to calling myself David, as it seems to shorten the odds of achieving something in life. It's not King Dave, Dave Lloyd George, Dave Hockney, Dave Bowie or Dave Hasselhoff is it? And I'm not sure Michelangelo would have had such success if he'd called his sculpture 'Dave'.
    • I think there is still a shoes/clothes recycling bank outside of North Dulwich station.
