A good pair of questions and I will see if I can answer them for you

1. Age related : it is mainly down to the age of some of the people in question and also anyone under 30 won't remember Trisha Yates, Sarah Jane or Mary (either one I fear)

2. Why just men, no reason but based on the interest of this so far I think I will start a seperate one for the ladies soon (oh god I sound like Al Murrey now) ... however there is no reason why women can't add their comments to this discussion, and when I do the one for the ladies, I am sure some men will also comment too.

Answering Keef's question about Sarah Jane- I think she is actually in her 50's and not 40's as she was a woman when I was a besotted young boy (not telling who or what I was besotted with mind you)

In general, looks like Ros has a good deal of interest thus far, and yes, Betty vs. Wilma is an interesting option, so for the sake of argument I will allow that... but Daphne... no way as she was always hanging around with that MC Fred (who had both her and Velma barking up his trouser legs but seemed to play them both off against each other... what a nasty piece he was...

A rough old selection it has to be said, but my first reaction was ros. The sexy voice helps, as does the fact that shes as bright as a button(the fact that most men are apparently less attracted to funny gals is patently bollocks), oh and she has a fairly blokey attitude to sex.;-)

Muchly proud of the wife for this, as Ros would be my choice (I'm under 30 so it doesn't count), although I can't work out which is more sexy - Ros, or that my wife arrived at the same conclusion >:D<

some of the menfolk have other halves who will either roll their eyes at the predictability of the date or wonder why they haven't been on a date like one outlined.... so there may be some reluctance

I dare say a pint or two on Friday evening will loosen tongues tho

Ohhh now there is a good follow up question

I plead the 5th !!! B)

Ohh

I have placed a counter thread for women, and as such I am now changing the list for the men (slightly)

Simple question, given the choices below, who would you most like take out in a date if they were a real life person (or alive today) and also include your reason why ?

a) Grace (from will and grace)

b) Ros (from Frasier)

c) Wilma (from the Flintstones)

d) Rose Tyler (from Dr Who)

e) Sarah Jane (Also from Dr Who - old school days)

f) Trisha Yates (ahh the old days of Grange Hill)

g) Mary (as in virgin)

h) Mary (as in something about)

i) Amanda (from Ugly Betty)

j) Betty (also From Ugly Betty)

k) Pussy (as in Galore)

No other choices allowed (although I bet someone decides different)

Now let's see if Ros is still top dog (pardon my use fo the phrase here) :-$

As Cassius says, so who gives one? I cant believe this comes from you too Kel, leave the older ladies alone you'll be one soon enough!

you've got it all wrong. Fred is just your classic dumb blonde surfer dude. Daphne slightly more intelligent and definitely the sexiest of the gang.

Velma was on the other bus I think you'll find.

If I might just drag the discussion back to The Frasier question.

I think there's a strong and quite correct wave towards the estimable Ros, while Daphne quite properly stirs some interest.

But from the same show, surely it can't just be me who's thinking... Lilith?

    • Every year they ask for more and every year it is an exhausting process pushing back on that for local residents and councillors. What annoys me is that at the post event consultation/ feedback this year, I specifically asked them if the rumours around applying for two weekends next year were true. They told me no. So that was a lie. Anyway, we go again.

    • Rant ahead: You're not one of them but unfortunately, there's a substrate of posters here that do very little except moan and come up with weird conspiracy theories. They're immediately highly critical of just about any change, and their initial assumption is that everyone else is a total fucking contemptible idiot. For example: don't you think that the people who run the libraries will have considered the impact of timing of reconstruction on library users? (In fact, we know they have - because they've made arrangements at other libraries to attempt to mitigate the disruption). After all, these are the people that spend their whole working week thinking about libraries and dealing with library users (and the kids especially). You don't go into the library game for the chicks and fame - so it's fair to assume that librarians are committed to public service and public access to libraries, including by kids. Likewise the built environment people (engineers, architects, construction managers, project managers, construction contractors, subcontractors or whoever is on this job) are told to minimise disruption on every job they do. The thing that occurs to us as amateurs within 30 seconds of us seeing something is probably not something a full time professional hasn't thought about! Southwark Council, the NHS, TfL, Dulwich Estate, Thames Water, Openreach - they're not SPECTRE factories filled with malevolent chaosmongers trying to persecute anyone. They're mostly filled with people who understand their job and try to do their best with what they've been given - just like all of us. Nobody is perfect or immune from challenge, and that's fair enough, but why not at least start from the assumption that there's a good reason why things have been done the way they have? Any normal person would be pleased that their busy, pretty, lively local library is getting refurbished, and will have more space and facilities for kids and teens, and will be more efficient to run and warmer in winter. But no, EDT_Forumite_752 had kids who did an exam 20 years ago, and this makes them an expert on library refurbishment who can see it's all just stuff and nonsense for the green agenda and why can't it all be put off... 😡😡😡
    • I completely misread the previous post, sorry. For some reason I thought the mini cooper was also a police vehicle, DUH.
