Not sure why so many people using this thread (about potential new business) to have a pop at g and b

I miss it. Bag policy or no (and I fell fouls of that more than once. I blamed myself not them tho )

Anyway. To the new business. Best of luck to whoever.

If it is the folks behinf Brawn, Terroir and Soif that's a puzzling move.

Were they not the food consultants for the menu changes that caused G&B so many problems? Not exactly a ringing endorsement of their food and price point.

Personally, I'm more than happy to see a new place open and will come to it open-minded but it's a strange turn of events if the rumours are true.

am sure a lot of people posting here miss G&B strafer, it sold cracking wine not to found elsewhere. so not so much having a pop as realising others on here shared experiences in what they felt 'didn't work' from customer convenience perspective. now we've all seen its sad demise and people just hoping new owners don't make same mistakes & wishing them well of course.

Who on earth spends ?80 on a couple of bottles of wine? No wonder the member of staff was blowing smoke in your direction, they probably despised someone who spends more than a weeks food shopping money on wine alone. It's disgusting the amount of money that goes to waste when there are people on our doorsteps who need it. Please tell me that you regularly donate the equivalent to a worthwhile charity.

I doubt the staff in a specialist wine shop despise someone that spends ?80 on two bottles of wine - I always found the G&B staff extremely helpful when I wanted to purchase something special.

I find the implication that because an individual can afford to spend ?80 on wine they are disgusting and the implied threat that they might excuse such a decision by donating an equivalent sum to charity both naive and borderline offensive.

But it's ok to spend ?80 a month on tobacco?

I don't think Chase Dulwit has done anything wrong there though - expressed disgust quite strongly may be, but even though it questions the values and perspectives of the wine buyer, it's not actually a personal attack is it?

El Phibe - If it's the Domain du Cros Marcillac you like, then I think Manish at Good Taste Food in Crystal Palace sells it. You can also order directly from Les Caves de Pyrene in Guildford (delivery can be pricy unless you are looking for a large order).
how very ed forum. someone mentions wine and then he gets torrent of abuse from the usual suspects about not paying lots of money for bottles of wine. many on here are so far up themelves and/or not taking their medication at the proper time that they feel a constant need to attack.
just get over yourselves you two and others. you don't even know you are doing it. a while ago someone posted about two yobs beating someone up in the park and was foolish enough to say they had a scary dog. she got told off for calling the dog scary, never mind the guy getting beaten up. on this thread some of you are worked up about a guy buying a couple of bottles of posh wine. try just for once to stick to the point. oh, forget it! waste of time even coming on.

    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor?
