Brendan
My wife is at a hypnotists? conference this weekend so I?m on me tod. I have to cut the grass out back I think. It is starting to look a bit jungle like. All my neighbours are retired so they have time on their hands to create these perfectly manicured gardens which make mine look pikey by comparison. Feel like I?m letting the terrace down. I?m sure they make tut tuttings to one another after I walk past. citizenED
Tonight I'm hoping to watch a film after the kids are tucked up in bed. Some dips and a glass of wine, some lemon cheesecake with cream. Weekend: Saturday, a park day with my little boys. Sunday, going to the Albany Theatre in Deptford for brunch and a kids show. Perfect! SteveT
Saturday go for an early swim, franklins for breakfast if I can get in, and mooching about the gardenSunday drive up to north london and have kippers and 6 cereal flute from Pauls, for lunch, see a movie with my film buff buddie who has movies from the twenties onwards, which are often fascinating and some are outstanding.Went to franklins, like a bear garden so wandered out and into Le Chandelier. I ordered eggs benedict and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was tepid and the eggs benedict had poached eggs with runny yolks and runny whites, so sat and pondered and then sent it back. The next one arrived heavily salted, and crunchy, possibly coarse grained salt. I stood up dropped my tenner on the counter and left feeling disgusted and salty mouthed. I spat out the salty grit in the gutter, but then I turned back to explain to the waitress what was wrong, she apologised and said sit down and I will give you a free hot chocolate and a third eggs benedict. I declined a second tepid chocolate, preferring a glass of water to remove the salty taste. Number three arrived I had asked the waitress to have the chef deliver it, but he was too embarassed to face a disenchanted customer, this was cooked correctly, and without salt. The waitress offered me the money back, she had done all she could do, I had eaten and was satisfied so I paid my dues.I will not be using Le Chandelier in the forseeable future. I have in past posts defended this place as being 'classy' but I must apologise to any forumista's I may have encouraged to use this establishment. Let the proprietor beware, her chef has a streak of arrogant resentment which makes him unfit for purpose. Bellenden Belle
For a girl who doesn't do DIY I can tell you to be spending my second day painting is quite something.Small wonder I started yesterday with a Bloody Mary in the Bishop.Even less surprising that by the end of last night I ended painting the ceiling by mistake....the ex (and ceiling painter) was not impressed.Doing the edges is devils work... giggirl
Today is Greek Easter Sunday - my best friend is a Greek optimist and is having a barbecue. She's lived here long enough to know better but at the first sign of a chink of blue sky she gets the barbecue out. Bless. I love that about her. louisiana
Tootled over to Honor Oak Park to finalise delivery of sofa, got back home same time as sofa delivery, rearranged furniture. And it was still only 8.30am. So did some paid work, then headed to Dartmouth Arms for an early lunch (12.15) in the sunshine out at the back. Then off to central London, specifically the Apple store. Parked in Smith Square to avoid meters. We hiked through St James's Park and across Pall Mall, and stopped at the Red Lion on Duke of York St for a swift half. Then onwards to Regent Street. Waylaid by Liberty (mainly 4th floor), and finally made it to the Apple Store to pick up a new Macbook. Then trekked back to Smith Square, via some window shopping on Bond street and environs. Love the Bambi t-shirt in the window at Vivienne Westwood.Collapsed in a heap around 10pm. So much for the proposed night at The End. But at least I now have a Mac.Today has also been busy:) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3143-whats-everyone-up-to-this-weekend/#findComment-98321 Share on other sites
