Thankfully it's started to warm up, which means it's Street Food season again.

I'm partial to Brockley market on Saturday, Herne Hill on a Sunday, as there's a good mix at both.

Pitt Cue have a new truck & The Joint from Brixton Market have bought their first wagon.

Any others worth searching out for a visit ?

See my thread on The Ropewalk in Bermondsey - there's even a local gin distillery and pop up cocktail bar. Food reneged from burgers to tacos to Iberian ham, waffles, cup cakes and a fantastic cheese stall, plus some pizza and other bread stalls.

Buffalo wings from Orange Buffalo in truman's brewery yard (not sure if that's it's proper name)- blinking excellent. What a shame though that I can't eat them in a stuffy 'property' at a ridiculous price where I'm obliged to order other stuff and tip a waiter. It's horrible sitting at a bench In the sun watching life go by. I think I need to man up.

Most Street food sellers on North Cross road do not have facilities to wash their hands.

Also handling money / Coins and food.

When I worked in the City / Borough All sandwich shops had to have someone separate to

handle money. They were not allowed to handle food and take the money.

titch - this argument has been had many times on here. You can explain about the stringent checks and H&S rules the stallholders have to follow (rules, which if the moaners were talking about something else, would have them complaining about excessive red tape)

this threaad has some lurid scare stories

but fortunately the food and the number of people buying it speaks for itself and we ignore the ignorati

I work at Blackfriars so I try and get up to Kings Blvd near Kings X station for some Rib Man action a couple of times a month. I've seen the mexican van from North X Rd market there a few times as well

It's the ridiculous description calling what you have described above as 'street food', just to make it/yourself/said activity sound less boring and humdrum. I might pop out and have some 'premises food' later, or i may stay in and have 'home kitchen' food.

There's an increasing gaggle of posters on here who make it hard to summon the will to live.

ffs he's just asking if people know any places that make nice food to east outside now it's sunny.

I for one would kill for that round my work where the most exciting culinary event of the past decade is the opening of a new greggs, makes a change from mayonaiise sodden sandwiches from Pret & Eat I guess.

It's sweet that you care so much about what it's called.

We should ditch this daft 'street food' title, which stupidly manages to sum-up exactly what it is in no more than two words - and go with something else.

I suggest 'food sold on non-rigid plates from a mobile catering facility which does not have a licence to sell intoxicating liquor'.

"You fancy grabbing a bite to eat after work tonight"

"Sounds good. But I don't really want a full sit-down restaurant thing. Why don't we just grab some food sold on non-rigid plates from a mobile catering facility which does not have a licence to sell intoxicating liquor?"

I like Brockley Market too Annette, particularly Mike & Ollie. Tried the tacos from Ambriento on North Cross this weekend - messy to eat but really good. Hot dogs from Dog Father Diner are perfect for hangovers on a Saturday morning too.

Recently tried the pizzas from Van Dough, not quite Pizza Pilgrims, but good base & toppings.

Loved the Roti Chai Chaat Shack that's on the Southbank until the end of the month.

Locally based OFM (original fry up material) serve breakfasts, but not managed to catch up with them anywhere yet. They're at Kerb King's Cross.

    • It is just a witch hunt. The estate agent has taken responsibility. FFS leave the poor woman alone.
    • As said, why are you not eating humble pie for a non-story? I expect that scores of landlords are unaware or made mistakes in this territory.  And this is not just the Chancellor but a married couple.  It feels like you and others are taking joy in demonising her. The only question would be is the house suitable for renting out?  I expect it is, and if not that is up to Southwark to take action rather than keyboard warriors.  The only surprises are the expense of licensing - surely time for a thread on "is licensing a money maker for local authorities?".  I'm being facetious.  And that the cost of rental, which feels fairly reasonable based on this area. By all means go after rogue landlords.  Be my guest.  I was horrified to see some of the properties rented in London and beyond by family members.  Not all bad. Oh and another question.  Haven't I got better things to do than comment on this 'no story here' thread?  😁
