To my surprise I've never seen a so called "street food" vendor selling authentic Turkish food.

What bugs me most about edcam, Louisa and co is not the ?bants?, but the sheer level of ignorance and/or lies and misinformation

Louisa is in complete knots over her own definitions of what is ?proper? food and what is ?poncy?

The pizza example is just hilarious ? despite being demonstrably physically wrong (follow Louisa?s ?recipe? and see how close to pizza that gets you), she still uses it as an example of of pretentious, aspirational types will buy any old iron.

And yet, and yet ? who IS buying pizza? It?ll be everyone from the unemployed up to super-rich footballers. Aspirational it ain?t

And then edcam with his ho ho ho ? Then all you need is a Twitter account, some pies from Manze's and a bit of tin foil and you're off.?

Any customer can have a look and see the difference (feel free to prefer one over the other ? it realy doesn?t matter, what?s important is that you can see they aren?t the same thing at all)

Are the pies on the van more expensive than Manzies in any case?

All lies and misinformation simply to point fingers, guffaw and name call (side-effets being derailing a potentially interesting thread and allowing the notion that the EDF is for loony toons only to solidify)

Oh don't be such a hypocritical bore - by hypocritical I refer to the supposed "name call" (sic.)

Well forgive me for having an opinion on an internet forum, I was under the impression that this was acceptable. If not then I'm not sure I see the point of it.

"Spout lies and insinuations.."? That's somewhat overstated really now isn't it? I don't think the trend for street food will suffer much for my cynicism about its quality/price. I'm hardly Jay rayner but I don't think he's been sued too often for having an opinion about food!

I suggest you look at your previous CAPITALISED post and then you'll see what I'm referring to. As far as I can see I haven't made it personal on this thread with anyone I've disagreed with until your temper got the better of you and you went on the attack. Terrifying to think how you might be when discussing something serious! Take a few deep breaths....

It's not overstated - it's what you said - "some pies from manzies and some tin foil". You can criticise the pies, you don'thave to like them - THAT is an opinion on a local forum and is fine - but neither you nor Jay Rayner can say she is taking food from somewhere else and passing it off as her own unless you have proof

Ok I stand corrected, but I think I did raise the point after your post that pasties can be made anywhere if you disregard the 'Cornish' pre-fix. Not that my correction seemed to help at all.

My convictions regarding food are my opinions. Just as you are entitled to yours. However, raising the point that class can be a dividing line between affordability of food is an important one IMO.

titch juicy I think we had better draw a line under all this stuff. I'm quite upset by the way I've been cornered once again and made to feel like my view counts for noting. There is clearly a dictatorial rule on this forum which has one rule for some and everyone else who doesn't tow the party line being branded as a troll or having psychological problems. I'm then accused of taking over a thread, surely expressing a point of view is what an online community forum is all about? Clearly not on the EDF. When these angry people who have such an issue with me are able to command a fair and decent debate I may contribute again, until them I will return to the wilderness of Barry Road and live out my days making cheese and Marmite sandwiches and watching old episodes of Minder.
