I do love a bit of snook' every now and then and the Essex Exocet, Ronnie "The Rocket" O'Sullivan has reaffirmed my faith with one of the most awesome 147 maximums I've ever seen! And he did it to win the match. ?157,000 for about 8 mins work. Not bad, son, not bad at all.

You can watch it again (and again) on BBC iplayer but no doubt it'll be on again this evening on BBC2.

Anyone else a fan? Anyone else fancy a game? I haven't played for years but used to be alright. I'm better at American pool though if anyone know's a local venue for a knock-about on the green baize.

Edited for appalling grammar, punctuation and spelling

I used to have a sort of dismal fascination with the game. It was easy to get drawn in, but it also sent me into a bit of a trance. It was only later, after not having played for a while, that I finally decided that I don't actually like it that much. (As for why I didn't notice this sooner, I blame the aforementioned trance.)

Funnily enough I went to a place in East Dulwich today to sign up for membership to a place just off LL(the street name eludes me)that has 5 snooker tables(2 quid an hour). Its a proper old social club too so cheap beer and cardboard beermats too. I'll get back to you with the address sometime tonight.

I'm afraid of Snooker, ever since my Dad took me to his snooker club (Christmas Eve treat.. 'the wife' too) and I was distressed to discover that the table itself it literally the size of half a football field.

Better to stick to pool, where any idiot with zero hand-eye coordination (that's me) can sink a couple of balls if you hit the hard enough and hope for the best.

I?d be up for a game, I like snooker me. As for watching it, well I?d rather be bored thanks.

If the thought of playing with small balls on a big pitch whilst scrutinised by the portraits of long dead Tory PMs or actually having to leave the borders of ED is too daunting, ?tis always the option of pool at the Gowlett or The Castle.

Remember this?

All together now....

"Snooker loopy nuts are we

Me and him and them and me.

We'll show you what we can do

With a load of balls and a snooker cue.

Pot the red and screw back

For the yellow, green, brown, blue

Pink and black.

Snooker loopy nuts are we

We're all snooker loopy!"

No?

Just me then.

    • I was woken around midnight the other night as a Lime man tried to untangle a heap of three bikes someone had piled on my driveway. They block the pavements and people knock them over in frustration. I wrote to Lime and told them that in future any bikes left near my property would be securely stored away for collection at a mutually convenient time for both parties. I confiscated one at the weekend but a man knocked on our door looking to rent it while I was at work and my son gave it to him! I told Lime it's not fair of them to push the problem on to the local collection depots, they create the problem by allowing users to dump the things wherever they like. If they were penalized for doing so that would put an end to it.

"I’m proud to be an advice volunteer at Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers (SDCAS), a community that welcomes and supports refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers in Southwark. Right now, we’re facing the toughest moment in our nearly 30-year history. Unless we raise funds this September, we may not be able to keep offering the hot meals, English classes, advice, and safe community space that so many people rely on. That’s why I’m asking you to support our emergency Crowdfunder: 👉https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/save-sdcas  Even a small donation, or sharing this with your friends and family, will make a huge difference in helping us to reach our £70,000 goal and keep SDCAS open. This place means so much to me, and to everyone who walks through our doors 💛.Thank you for your support in spreading the word.  ... Be sure to tag us @SouthwarkAsylum on Facebook and @sdcascommunity on Instagram We really value your support, £70K is an ambitious goal but we know our dedicated supporters can get us over the line! • "2.2.1 The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has undertaken a comprehensive consultation process with its residents and stakeholders regarding the proposed development which aims to create 41 additional units and has been designed to address the growing demand for accessible and supportive accommodation for individuals with visual impairments. 2.2.2 The consultation process has been a key part of the planning phase, ensuring that the needs and preferences of current residents are taken into account. RNIB has held several meetings, workshops, and surveys to gather feedback on the design, facilities, and overall impact of the new development. Residents have been encouraged to share their views on various aspects, including accessibility features, communal spaces, and the integration of the new blocks with the existing infrastructure which has directly informed the proposals. 2.2.3 The Applicant also engaged with the local MP, Helen Hayes, and a couple of local councillors at the behest of RNIB tenants to provide new homes to promote independent living for its Blind and Partially Sighted residents"     Seems like a very sensible and necessary proposal to me.
