East Dulwich, aka Royston Vasey. I agree that ED is becoming too posh. Not only that but there are NEW SHOPS opening up!!! And STRANGERS coming into the area!!! I think this is atrocious and that all NEW SHOPS!!! should be burnt down. All STRANGERS!!! should be arrested and sent back to where they come from. I suggest that we rewind time about ten years to when ED was a LOCAL community, full of LOCAL SHOPS for LOCAL PEOPLE. After all, progress may be a wonderful thing but frankly, we have had too much of it. Perhaps we could also arrange for all LOCAL SHOPS to revert to 1950's prices and start to charge in pounds, shillings and pence. Obviously, we would also have to revert to pounds and ounces. None of this nasty 'METRIC' measurements Johnny Foreigner has foisted upon us!

Yes DM. Keef's going to black himslef up and join the circus.

Surely ED is as middle class as ever, especially with Nutty's Lotus and Snorky's 911 doing the rounds. I own an old pair of trainers and some socks with holes in (never fear, am learning to darn as we speak).

Posh no. But over the last few years since a lot of new money has moved into the area one does get the feeling that the place is becoming a little gentrified. I'm not complaining though as all the bars, restaurants and shops have all improved beyond measure and there is more choice. Always a good thing that.
We moved here from Brondesbury a little while ago. Sold a small flat for a massive profit which enabled us to buy a semi down here in ED. Did'nt think East Dulwich was posh then but we do feel its turning into a bit of a clone town with a kind of bland homogonised character. To that end we miss the unique character of our former North London idyll...:-$

    • I took it to mean that he was going to present all sides of the argument (for want of a better term) rather than just giving his own opinion. I didn't take it to mean that he was calling "his own views" balanced.
    • I just did this survey. There are a number of problems with it. For example, in at least two questions you have an option "other, please specify" but there is no way to specify what the "other" is. Also, you have several questions where if you have nothing appropriate to answer, you get a statement "this is a required question", or words to that effect, so you have to put in something like "nothing" in order to move on. Can I suggest that this is likely to confuse people so they just give up half way through? Maybe you should test it out on a few people before going "live" with it?
    • I went to Brockwell Lido on a hot day last summer to do some lengths. It was busy.  I kept getting other people's hair, which was floating around the pool, tangled in my hands. It was gross. I'm not sure if that was unusual, or if it's always like that on a hot day.
    • Didn't engage him in conversation but I think he was just 'collecting' for a 'charity' - without ID or anything else. Something to do with rehabilitation. They don't seem to bother with dusters. Which is probably a blessing.
