Flying Pig - craft beer & BBQ

Recommended Posts

I am so excited about this. I feel a little bit like a tiny bit of Diners Drive-Ins and Dives or Man V Food is coming to town. I just hope the pricing is reasonable cos assuming its good, I see this as a couple'a'times a week kinda joint.

I love american style food when done well but I have to say, collard greens are the rankest thing I have ever eaten - I'd have thought anything cooked in bacon fat would be good but I was soooo wrong. I will not be joining the petition for that dish!

One quick question - are you planning on any gluten/wheat free options? They are hard to come by - a gluten free burger bun would do wonders as would maybe corn wraps and and a wheat free, maybe rye, bread for sandwiches and a couple of dessert options that aren't polenta cake. Oh and if you are planning on going down a brunch route at any point, wheat free pancakes would go down a storm.

I'm a carnivore, one friend is a veggie and another wheat free - finding somewhere we all want to go is stressful!

The big question is will you be catering for children?

locale did it very well - children's menu, high chairs and very welcoming staff.

That's how you are going to do well in the area. I know it's not what everyone wants but that's what the area needs to cater for these days

"locale did it very well -"

well, they did it. It wasn't enough to keep them going. For a place right next to Goose Green playpark I would have expected to see a lot more people in Locale

I'm not sure BBQ and craft beer screams "child friendly" either - and I'm ok with that. I take my little one to many of the cafes and bars in the area and like doing it, but if somehwre is doing something different then good on 'em

Will they be catering for children is a good reasonable question

But the BIG question is surely - if you are opening a BBQ restaurant, how good is that BBQ food?

I've been to BBQ places in the US with a great range of beers which are family friendly, so I don't see why not.

But both BBQ and craft beer are very 'now', and if they get it right I really don't think they'll have to pander to the ED high-chair-and-babycino market (cue jokes about little Rupert and Esmerelda).

Hi guys, sorry for the lack of info. Builders are due to hand over at the end of the month barring any last minute delays. We still have a lot of work to do back of house and training staff etc. We're looking to open mid to late August. Once I have a confirmed date I'll let you know.

In the mean time please follow us on Twitter @TheFlying_Pig and Instagram search The Flying Pig London.

We're recruiting now so if anyone is interested in working at the FP please email CVs to [email protected]

Regards

Mark

    • I don't have a beef with you. But I do have a beef with people who feel that a certain portion of the public's opinion isn't valid.  I don't like racism any more than anyone else here. But I do dislike the idea that an individual's thoughts, beliefs and feelings, no matter how much I may disagree with them, are somehow worth less than my own.  And I get the sense that that is what many disenfranchised voters are feeling - that they are being looked down upon as ignorant, racists who have no right to be in the conversation. And that's what brings out people on the margins and drives them towards extremes, like Reform.  Whether you like it or not, the racist, bigot, anti-european nextdoor to you has just as much say in the country as you do. Intellectual superiority is never going to bring them round.
    • What is your beef with me ? Why are you asking rhetorical questions?  fighting me but excusing reform? have a look in the mirror  you’ve lost your way
    • I don't need you to tell me to 'fight against' racism.  I know what it looks it like, thank you.  And China would be our enemy whether we were in Europe or not (and has been for a long time), so that's immaterial.  I remember covering an EDL march 12 years ago, when there was a Cons-Lib Dem coalition, so the idea that this is a new problem is rubbish. BUT Reform is doing an excellent job of galvanising a minority in reaction to smug liberals like you, who blame the electorate's collective ignorance for all the country's demons.  What right have you for a moral mandate?
    • Both Labour and Conservatives can remove the threat of a Reform government by making making two major policy promises. And these are .......... (1) categorically state that they will take Britain out of the ECHR and (2) Undertake to remove any new small boat arrivals to Rwanda or wherever else. Reform is basically a single issue party and adopting (1) & (2) would send Reform into obscurity. The country has had enough of our judiciary making a gold-plated interpretation of the ECHR statutes.
