Great Bars of the World. Cayote Ugly ... Hogs and Heifers

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been to the Hogs and Heifers in the Meat Packing District in New York.

Was there a couple of nights in 2003. Apparently the Coyote Ugly bar is based on it and it happened to be on ITV tonight.

One of the great bars of the world !

Any other suggestions for great bars of the world...?

Oh yes MM, I spent a rather interesting night in that bar in New York. There was a megaphone behind the bar, the staff periodically set the bar alight with alcohol and then danced on it. Does this sound familiar MM? Same bar as you? Meat Packing? I had a little dance myself but I kept all my clothes on. All of them. Did you remove anything yourself MM?

I wouldn't say it was one of the best bars in the world but it was a great night out. We stumbled on it completely by accident and we spent the night, drank a lot of beer, and things became a little loose. We walked all the way home to Chelsea and slept until noon.

Ha! You got there first. Amazing bar, amazing views. We spent many happy hours there listening to laid back jazz in the glorious sun watching local kids dive off the rocks below and ships sail into the wide blue yonder. Not a place for those with a fear of heights!

    • That's absolutely disgusting. If it's true they should have closed the shop until it was fixed.
    • I have read conflicting accounts, some say the Peckham Rye pond chelonians are fresh water turtles others that they are red-eared terrapins. As well as terrapins, there are reports of Musk Turtles, a non native, fresh water turtle species also being released into the wild. They are also better equipped to survive our winters and do not seem to need to bask as much as terrapins. Perhaps we have both. I have not been able to see them close enough to observe markings.
    • If you look in the Gala thread someone posted a map of the event site, which has larger footprint than before. The build has already started and will now continue until the event. Dismantling is due to end 1st June, I think.
