Ted Max
Thread in which I hope EDF-ers will share the love of a good drink - of any description, in order to increase the happiness, knowledge and well-being of all.I will start - I recently have enjoyed, this - available from Green n Blue for a hefty (for me) ?12.25. I find I'm drinking less wine and spending more per bottle, these days - a trade-off I am happy to make. But I find I tend to stick to a few old favourites as I'm loathe to experiment at those prices. Hence, would love some recommendations for things to try. What bottle, pint, etc have you loved recently, and where can I get my hands on some? What are your tried and trusted old favourites? What, in short, are you drinking? david_carnell
Good thread Ted.Staying with wine and G&B, I had Sunday lunch in the Gazette Brasserie in Battersea two weekends ago and was lucky enough to share two bottles (and not have to pay) of this stuff at ?32 a pop. G&B have it for a much more palatable ?14.2006 Clos Colombu Vin de Corse Calvi, Corsica, France Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3552-what-are-you-drinking/#findComment-111022 Share on other sites

Peckhamgatecrasher
My friend bought me a rather delish sparkling rose from Nicolas last week - perfect for supping on summer evenings in the garden: Cremant de Loire Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3552-what-are-you-drinking/#findComment-111029 Share on other sites
Ted Max
Cremant de Loire rose. Right - adds to list. In "if you liked that, try this," return I offer you an old favourite rose of ours - Rimauresq - from Cotes de Provence. Always a hit.Searching for something similar, I had a Bandol rose from Nicolas a while back. Roughly 13 quid from memory, and roughly 13% abv as well. Good, but (although we're in roughly the same territory) it didn't have the same lightness as the Rimauresq.David, you've done well remembering that wine from a couple of weeks ago. I often try to make note of a decent wine I've had when out and about, but always forget what I was drinking by the time I've got home. Hence the reason for the thread, really. david_carnell
Ahh, I often make the same mistake but a search of the wine list on their website provided the clues. On the beer front the Plough currently have Adnams Regatta which is a delighful summer ale. They change their barrels pretty quick though so get in fast. I think the Adnams brewery has to be an all time favourite. The ordinary and broadside are both lovely and their seasonal beers are always excellent. If you can't make it to the pub, the BossBros offlicense has bottles of organic Oxford Gold which is also a current fave. david_carnell
The Oxford Gold's lovely. Not that it'll mean much but brought back memories of a beer served in a pub I used go to back home.Fruity but malty in a sort of golden way. It's from Brakspear.Edit: I first had it on draft in the EDT which was amazing, but the bottles from Bossman are pretty good too. benjaminty
Nice .... I'll give that a go then.I've seen a few interesting looking ciders in there but know very little about them and cider in general... will dabble this weekend I reckon and report back. Jah Lush
If you're looking at drinking cider benjaminty there is plenty of Pear cider around the pubs and bars of East Dulwich at the moment. A little on the sweet side for me but the ladies seem to like it. Marmora Man
Ardbeg 10 year old as today is not a special occasion - for that I reserve a 28 year, cask strength, single cask, single malt Highland Park. Moos
Seconded, Tillie! I'm drinking a Domaine de Montes Reserve (from Vinothentic, Benjaminty) from the Languedoc. Tasty, flavourful unspecial wine with lots of tannin and a deep, deep dragon's blood red. Perfect for a weekday evening and the chocolate chip biscuits I'm about to ask Mr. Moos to get me from the kitchen... ct
Currently enjoying a bottle of domaine la berangeraie cuvee juline cahors from g&b with an eye on the football. Got to be said that the wine is of much better quality than their footie team - and hopefully with it being organic and only 12.5% I shouldnt feel too bad in the morning Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3552-what-are-you-drinking/#findComment-111113 Share on other sites
lozzyloz
As I watch Italy crush France like a Gamay grape I should be drinking a glass of Masi MAZZANO Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Vento. buggie
I had the best bottle of wine ever (well half of it!) at Franklins the other week - it was a Pinot Gris and was easily the nicest wine I'd ever tasted! x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3552-what-are-you-drinking/#findComment-111338 Share on other sites
RosieH
Sherry at the Palmerston. Shameless plugging of one of my clients - if you're eating at the Palmerston over the course of the next week, check out their sherries. Really rather good.Spanish icons aside, anything I can lay hands on.
