Dear Mr Dale

While Dulwich does not have the transport hub that is Camberwell Green, we do have East Dulwich, North Dulwich and Peckham Rye stations within close proximity to most corners of our world, plus a lot of buses pass through. We can catch the 185 to Victoria, 176 to Aldwych and 40 to Aldgate via London Bridge, and the 12 to Oxford Circus. And the 63 to Kings Cross now that I think of it.

So no tube, but transport links not as bad as one might think.

Regards

Agreed P's F. I'm a bit confused by Alan's observations too.

I'm not aware that Camberwell is more pricey than ED either, C'well has a higher crime rate and a singularly more down-at-heel feel to it.

As for transport links, many punters mean 'no tube' when they say limited public transport, but that's often because they're not familiar with the train service. It goes every 10 mins during the day. You don't have to be that clever to arrive when it'll only be a 3/4 min wait - just like the tube.

I work in Kentish Town, and it's far faster, more predictable and more comfortable by train than by tube on the Northern Line (down to Tulse Hill and back up on the Thameslink).

I'm sure there are places in ED you can live where buses aren't that accessible, but surely that's the same anywhere?

I live on the Peckham Rye side of East Dulwich, so have the option of trains to Blackfriars, Victoria or London Bridge. Buses arriving every few minutes take me to the station in 5 minutes. I work in the city and have a 35 minute door-to-door trip every morning. That's the same commute time as when I was living in Chelsea.

I guarantee that trains are a whole lot more comfortable that tube trains, especially in the summer!

    • I was several miles away and I didn't miss it, as apparently didn't lots of others also several miles away. But as I and others reported although we guessed it was fireworks it sounded more like the WWI front line, albeit from a distance!

    • Hi. I hope everyone is well. I’m just wondering if anyone in the East Dulwich area has a working VHS/DVD Combi unit that records from VHS to DVD.  Or if anyone is willing to allow me to borrow or lend it for a time until I get all my videos transferred over. I am looking for a few on eBay but either they do not have the recording function or they are just too expensive.  If anyone can help I would be so grateful.  My current one which is a Sharp make started recording fine after years of not being used, then all of a sudden it stopped and hasn’t worked since. When I put a tape in and try, the machine shuts down, and the play button on the remote seems stuck. Thank you to anyone in advance that would be so kind enough to help xx
    • A quick update - my InPost parcels are being accepted sporadically at Barry's, but only one at a time and every few days, after many refusals - one was refused SEVEN times over about ten days - and several phone calls. As a comparison, I had a message from Yodel that a parcel that was going to Barry's is being delivered to another nearby store, which is interesting...
