at least they wont need to do too much to that unit security wise....

Capacious interior for the 'distract-and-pocket' ploy, large windows with extensive forecourt area to enable full sledgehammer swing, access to lots of side roads for a motorcycle getaway, yes - they should do well.

I wonder if they'll store the 5k rings in one of the little garages out the back?

What would you prefer?

Prefer?

I don't object to bling shops - I might think they're idiots to open there but I don't object and I probably underestimate the lust for Gold and shiny things in these parts (can't see Nina Christie's being thrilled though).

If you DO have such power though ET, and are asking with a view to waving your wand and making it so, then a good Chinese/Vietnamese-type supermarket would be nice, thankyou.

So that's three new jewellery shops opened relatively recently in ED - how much money is there floating around?! (The other two are on Upland Road - one precious jewellery which has been open for quite a while, the other a costume jewellery one next door).

Why would you think this area could not support three jewellery shops?

Four jewellery shops, and I'm not saying it can't, I was just wondering as it seems quite a concentration in a small area (particularly as three of them sell precious jewellery that's quite expensive). Hopefully it can. East Dulwich: South London's Hatton Garden ;-)

I'm not whinging! I am merely concerned (and therefore posing a question for discussion) that someone's hopes and dreams, never mind investment, might not succeed if there isn't sufficient demand. Ever heard of market saturation?

I have already said that I wish them well. The new shop is probably better placed than the other two for passing trade anyway.

Vik, you are absolutely right. Some people are never happy... It's like a little forum of negativity, cheer up people it's nearly Christmas!

    • Found debit card on Colyton Road - around 5:30pm. PM with your name and the last 4 digits of the card number if you think it might be yours.  Reported to the bank who asked me to shred it. If you are the owner, they'll send a new one in the post
    • Yet to use it for a big parcel, but worth a try!
    • This guy was found running loose on the common, up at the Colyton Road end. He was being quite over zealous with other dogs, causing a bit of mayhem. No collar, we think he might be a pup who's escaped. If he's yours, PM me and I can put you in touch with a kind young couple who got a lead on him and have put shout-outs on the local dog whatsapp groups.  If you are the parents of any of the young lads in school uniform, who were helping me as I tried to stop a fight kicking off between this chap and my dog, please tell your sons thank you. I really thought it was going to get nasty and I didn't get the chance to thank the boys - particularly the blonde one - who were helping me. He was being very brave as I crumbled.    The dog's owner has now been found. But hopefully the parents of the young lads will see this post.
