Has anyone else seen the old man with a short haired woolly, very large Old English Sheepdog (but short haired) wandering along Lordship Lane? Does anyone else agree that the dog is in very bad condition and needs a vet's attention? I think it's being severely neglected. It has open sores and looks mangey. Should the RSPCA get involved?!
The dog you are talking about doesn`t have open sores at all. The dog is getting on in years and is also looked after by the owners Daughter who visits a lot. The dog has been his constant companion for the last 12 years, The owner or his Daughter would not neglect the dog. He did give him a haircut a little while back and the dogs coat probably looks strange because it was a bit patchy and some bits were longer than others.

I met them both in the park last week - a lovely guy, if a little forgetful.

The dog is 14 years old and in fantastic shape considering its age - no sores and no mange - I was giving it a lot of strokes in the park and saw nothing but an elderly dog.

Next time you see them, go over for a chat and examine the dog yourself - both dog and owner are very frendly.

Yes, I see them frequently and the dog stops to say hello to people who are sat outside the EDT. He looks fine to me, where did you see the sores cab and I can have a look out for the dog today and take a look? And have you seen something that makes you say it being severely neglected? Please let us know so that we can do something.
Ok, I am convinced that it's being taken care of now. It just looked manky when I last saw it and the sort of dog I wouldn't want to touch, and if someone didn't want to touch my hair I would say that I was in bad condition! I did see a few red raw patches on him. I felt sorry for him. Thanks for letting me know.
I've seen this dog when i was sat in goose green. it's been clipped which makes me think, to be honest that it's looked after. it's an old dog with an old owner. i thought they looked like a good pairing to be honest. to direct it he just pointed to a location he was going in and the dog just looked and went that way, it was like a telepathic link or something.

    • Well, they do turn them away from the A&E route at Kings and rightly so they employ GPs and if after triaging you’re determined to have a GP type problem you are sent to see one of the GPs on site or close to the site.
    • My bike (a ELOPS 120 step over classic from Decathlon) was stolen from outside The Belham this afternoon. I locked it up while I collected my kids, then the street was so busy that I left it there while I walked them home. Did a few other things at home, came back about 5.30pm and it was gone. Sharing just in case anyone sees it or finds it anywhere - it’s a few years old and the chain is a bit rusty/makes a clicking sound so maybe there’s a slight chance someone would dump it! Really annoying and just a reminder to be really careful with bikes. The picture shows the bike model from the Decathlon website.
    • Thanks, I didn't know that.  People are even more stupid than I thought then, if they are willing to wait hours in A&E for an ingrown toenail. I presume they don't get put at the front of the queue. Why isn't the 111 service more widely advertised? That puts you in touch with a doctor, who will advise on the phone or visit, and if necessary  you will be advised to go to A&E or they will arrange an ambulance to take you.
