I've just seen a rather cryptic press release announcing that a private members' club called Den Lodge is to be opened in East Dulwich. There's no other info on it, other than the contact details of Antic (www.antic-ltd.com), the company that owns the EDT and a clutch of other pubs.

Anyone heard anything about this? (Given the name, perhaps its target market will be the local population of foxes.)

Blimey, surely this isn't going to be the latest incarnation of upstairs @ edt, following the restaurant closing for the Summer?

Smooth lounge lizard that I am (as well as expert on all things fox)I went to the opening night of the Dex club in Brixton and well nice it is too. Can't find their web site but it's over the Kentucky, opposite the Ritzy and they own the pub next door to said kentucky. Theres a room on the first floor with bar and then above there are some bedrooms (all en suite) and a terrace with a hot tub, and all in the centre of brixton. Will it be similar here? Anyway if they want invite me to the opening night they'll have to get in touch with my agent.
I'm with Groucho Marks on Private Clubs.....I remember when the Funky Monkey in Camberwell got delusions of Granduer andtried something similar upstairs......EDis NOT Notting Hill or Hoxton FFS. Horrible, snotty, elitist, claptrap IMO. I had a phase of going to SohoHouse with a girl...a place stuffed with a load of wanabees with far too much coke....it nearly turned me back to socialism....
As someone on the other thread mentioned, it could well be more of a licensing ruse than some sort of elitist venue (not that I'd mind that you understand,as long as I was invited). A place I used to frequent regularly as a student in Leeds (RIP Hyde Park Social) was a "members club" but in reality this amounted to an annual sub of ?1 and a bit of yellow paper witha your name and number on it. Apparantly it allows for cheaper licenses and therefore cheaper drinks. Worked a treat for me.

    • Hello.  A parcel for someone at 64B Blenheim Grove has been dumped at my address.  If anyone from 64B is in this forum, please get in touch!
    • CPR Dave is anti-dogs. Each to their own  I think my dog has perhaps grown a bit less nervy about the fireworks in the last few weeks, interestingly. Our last dog had no problems with them until he reached old age, when he became petrified.  CPR Dave - it's not just sounds of the metropolis they hate, mine collapses in fear when he hears thunder too
    • There's quite a difference between going for a run around the footpaths and trying to sit quietly for an afternoon in a wide, grassy area and enjoying the peace & nature. The other two grassy areas in the park are used for sports, and both had barriered trackway running through them. The Parkrun had to be cancelled for at least three weeks, iirc. I'm concerned by your continued reference to "the rye" - the event is held in the park, not on the rye (common). There is a big difference, despite the organisers and council artificially amalgamating the whole area when trying to convince everyone that it's only a small area that is closed off. The railings & gates enclosing the park are a big clue...
    • So have you cancelled your contract with InPost / Yodel now? If so, that's probably caused hundreds of parcels to be stuck in limbo, as they've said to me before that they can't redirect them to a different store. I have a parcel that was refused by you twice, the last time on 5/12, and since then there's been no updates, despite me calling them 3 times. They just say it's being investigated, but if they now can't physically deliver to you then that is obviously the issue. So much for shopping for Christmas presents early, looks like I'll never get them now.
