I was working as a waitress in a cocktail.... No, no, no, I was working as a waitress in a seafront hotel in Ramsgate and was being paid 20p AN HOUR (this in 1975 or so) and a bottle of Cresta was also 20p. That advert brought it all back, thanks for that Red Devil! After having my purse stolen by a customer I told the manager to stuff their 20p and walked out, and got a job working as a waitress in a cocktail b.... nooooo, in a seafront caf? in Margate. Much better pay!


And yes, CHAMPAGNE!!!!!!!!

The Cherry Cola.

And Cream Soda.

Margate's on the up. First the Turner Contemporary art gallery, and now a new ITV comedy/drama, Edge of Heaven, based on an 80's themed guest house in Margate. What's not to like? :)

    • I was not suggesting anything else!   I'm not sure how you interpret what I said  as "irrelevant"? I was responding to a post saying that Corbyn was "unelectable". My point was that a  large number  of the electorate  voted for him!
    • that's exactly what happened - Brickhouse were forced to close due to rent hike and then Gail's didn't move in until covid restrictions lifted and normality resumed. Gail's would have opened much sooner as they were lined up and able to offer the landlord much higher rents. Brickhouse was a local favourite
