My first EDF jolly up since last April and look what happens. I managed to give the EDT the swerve afterwards and didn't pass go and went straight to the Drum instead, which is remarkably still going and thank feck for that and all who sail in her, though I'd feel a hell of a lot better if I hadn't had to go to work this morning. I nodded off briefly and woke up in Stratford which is not really what I wanted to do at all. I need my bed.

Edited:- because it's fecking hard to type when you're still smashed. My fingers are like a pound of sausages this morning and my head hurts...ouch.

Lush, dear chap, if you'd only listened to your dear old Uncle EDOldie and gone straight home to bed you wouldn't be suffering. Would you?

Anyway lovely evening in Hoopers last night, which is remarkably easy to walk to from the station. I've driven past it loads of times and thought it was in the middle of nowhere. Will be taking Mrs Oldie for a schooner of sherry before long.

Nice to meet so many people, particularly TillerTrotter and Bagpuss78 and loads of others but alcohol plays havoc with my memory and what with forum names and real names it?s all too much.

Already looking forward to the next one which is the day after my birthday, so I might buy you all a drink. If I?ve had enough myself that is.

We had great fun last night....we were tempted by EDT...but decided to wobble home .

Nice to see meet up with peeps including David, Andrew, Citizen ED, Sean. Nice to meet

Ladygooner, Keef, Mockney Piers for the first time.

Hello to 2 newbies Kate and Helen, who just moved to the area. Kate good luck in

your job search.

Thanks to Georgia for organzing the drinks.

We look forward to next months drinks!

I think I met Kate, albeit briefly. I did, I'm sure I did, outside having a fag I was. Just in from York if memory serves me well. Lovely girl. I'd almost forgotten how much fun these forum drinks are and the lovely people you can meet up with. I'm rather looking forward to the next one, wherever that will be.

Hmm, sounds like there were lots of people there I didn't manage to get round to speaking to. This is what comes of spending half the evening propping up the bar... or more accurately letting the bar prop me up!

Oh well, I still managed to chat to lots of nice people including quite a few I hadn't met before so I am not going to feel too bad about it.

Thanks to everyone for welcoming me to my first 'Friday Night Drinks', even if I did incorrectly label it as 'the East Dulwich Drinking Club'.. Had a very pleasant evening, even though I did not last beyond Hooper's. Will look out for the next one.

Cheers,

Anthony

Glad you enjoyed it, was nice to meet you

Estelle

We would just like to say thank you to all the EDF members who came to the drinks at Hoopers last Friday. I was unable to meet you all as it was a very busy night. It seems from the posts since that you all had a good time, & hope we get the chance to meet you when you next visit us.

If you have any constructive suggestions on how we can improve on what we are offering, we are always willing to listen!

Best Regards

Jamie Hooper

Shame to have missed what seemed like another good night. I took a late helicopter flight into London from Dorset for a meeting with some friends in London Bridge (don't ask). I did make it to Liquorish very late in the evening, but most people had crashed already! Shame on you SMG et al ;)

Shame is an interesting concept. As I woke up and was able to function on Saturday I felt no shame. Had I gone on to EDT and Liqourish, I suspect I was no more than 2 cocktails away from yer actual, genuine shame

Jamie - I popped back to Hoopers on Saturday for the Arsenal v Man U game - the game itself and the result certainly helped but it was definitely a nice spot to watch some football with a good crowd in there too. Nice spot of lunch too

The staff were extremely busy on Friday night but if Jamie gets that many in every weekend I expect he can ramp up staff numbers. Up to us I guess ;-)

It was a good night and one in which I stayed stunningly sober but, due to commitments 140 miles north, I had to leave before the true drunkeness started.

Great to see so may new people. Anthony did indeed walk into the room and ask Moos and myself "Is this the East Dulwich Drinking Group"? A truly insightful query which did him much credit.

    • In just two days, we’ll take to the streets to show Donald Trump that he and his politics are not welcome here. On Saturday the global far-right mobilised their biggest protest for decades. We want to show that supporters of Trump and fascism are not the majority – far from it. Here are all the details you need for the day. The march assembles at Portland Place, near the BBC, at 2pm (see assembly blocs below). After speeches here, the march will move off at 3pm. It will then march down Regent St, through Piccadilly Circus, on Whitehall (past Downing St) to our rally at Parliament Square. The rally at Parliament Square will begin around 5pm and finish at 7pm. If you can’t make it to the march, feel free to join the rally after work! (Nearest tube: Westminster). The short, accessible version of the route assembles at the top of Whitehall (SW1A 2DY) at 4.30pm to march to Parliament Square for 5pm. You may also prefer to just join the rally directly at Parliament Square.  Join a bloc – and make friends! Our movement is diverse, and various elements are forming ‘blocs’ on the march to emphasise their visual presence collectively. You can join these blocs or form up behind them:   A) Palestine, near BBC, W1A 1AA B) Climate, W1B 1NS C) Amnesty, around junction with New Cavendish St, W1B 1LU D) Migrants' rights, W1B 1LS E) Jewish bloc, W1B 1QQ F) Ukraine, around junction with Weymouth St, W1B 1JL G) Europe, W1B 1NR More stewards still needed Stewards are a crucial part of keeping the protest safe for everyone to participate. They are a visible point of contact for attendees who may need directions or other assistance. Experience of stewarding is useful but it's also fine if you haven't done it before. You will be issued with a hi-vis jacket and briefed in advance and on the day.  Sign up to be a steward Staying comfortable on the day The demonstration lasts for several hours, so we suggest you should:     Bring a bottle of water and snacks (and eat beforehand)     Charge your phone fully the night before, and bring a portable charger if you can     Go to the loo beforehand (really!)     Buddy up with someone, or stick together as a group – it can be hard to find people easily if people wander off     Coming alone? Protests can be a great place to meet like-minded people. If you feel unsure, you can always talk to a steward     Consider the weather: bring a waterproof jacket or wear suncream where necessary     Wear comfortable clothes and footwear, and use our accessible route if you need to (see above) Bring your friends and family on Wednesday. Let’s make this massive! In solidarity, Stop Trump Coalition
