I just absolutely delight in this scene from the movie Ratatouille. The music is perfect, the comic timing spot-on, the camerawork (if you get what I mean) is terrific and the expressions exquisite. If you are not turned onto cooking after this, there is no hope.

Making Soup

Loving this thread, things I've never seen that I now plan to, including Ratatouille!

Bignumber5, the scene where he plays the opera is one of my favourites.

I'm not (that) ashamed to say that I like Dirty Dancing. It has a wonderful soundtrack, including "Cry to me" by Solomon Burke, (the tune in the scene annaj posted) which is one of my favourite songs (although unfortunately a pretty girl has never asked me to dance to it in an effort to get me in to bed). I also had a childhood crush on "Baby".

It was on one night last week, and amazingly it was the first time Mrs Keef had ever seen it!

"I was a wretch headed for a life of drug crime and violence and my Pastor encouraged me to try Stareathon. I struggled at first, but gradually, match by match, I gained the respect of my peers and found my identity. And look at me today. I can make dogs defecate just by staring at them from twenty paces. Stareathon turned me from the dark side. Now I run a thriving dog-walking service. Think again, Bro!"

I have great affection for High Fidelity too D_C, and found so many reasons why I like it when looking for that clip. Amazed that I even went to see it after the sacrilege of having it set in North America rather than North London! As it happens I actually think its one of those rare cases when the film is better than the book.

You have to go a few times round all the blocks of Edinbrugh in order to better the opening of Trainspotting

    • Admin, please move if in wrong section. I have a load of books to take to the Oxfam book shop in Herne Hill. It's opposite the Half Moon pub at the bottom of Half Moon Lane. It would be two trolley loads on the bus or walking, and I've already done that once this year! And books  are very heavy!  Is it possible to park nearby, does anyone know? There are so many restrictions these days, and I don't want to risk a fine.
    • Definitely no surprises there.
    • Doubt Love Dulwich under new management will be there next year.  Personally. will stick to Italian or Viet if latter is in same hands.
    • To be fair, it’s more than ok to bash Labour. I think she is a terrible appointment, I think her motivations and follow-through with an announcement like this is problematic and shows that Labour are intent on chasing votes from the likes of Vladi instead of me  and vladi’s reaction is exactly why not only are Labour abandoning their core vote and morals, but why they are stooopid to do so
