any women with a career, own money and no kids in dulwich!?

Recommended Posts

Im 30, a woman, no children (yet) and have a career so not quite 'in my 20s' anymore and to be honest with you I dont quite see the problem if we were overrun with mummies and babies (not that we are), Im outta ED at 7.30 and dont get back til 7.30pm so I dont even see these families you speak of because I can assure there arent loads of mums and babies in the pubs after dark and to be honest even if they were it would affect me living in ED, this is the craziest thread Ive seen on here in a long time..

How odd..

Long live ED and all of its beautiful inhabitants..

Azul - dude you always seem to make me laugh with your posts!!

Strawbs, I didn't say there was a problem with mummies and their children. But, I don't have a 9-5 job and do work at home or outside so it's important to me to know if there is anywhere where there's other adults about in ED during the day as just seems to be children and their mums. Obviously you've not been looking at the forum if you think this is the craziest thread! If you're out ED 12 hrs a day, how do you even know if it not overrun with the like!? Surely the no. of baby shops and classes advertised is a sign. There's more activites catering for the 0-5 age bracket than the 20-35!
Don't disagree with you, Tillie. But if a person only wants to be friends with a particular demographic perhaps the best way to ask the question is directly. I enjoy having friends with all sorts of different lives, but then I'm old and dull and have children, so what do I know?

hey Moos - yep that's me all nice and shiny!! ;-)

Angela - 'There's more activites catering for the 0-5 age bracket than the 20-35!' I think you've answered your own question and possibly ED just isnt the place for you so good luck and go forth and find the right place to live, hopefully its just not near Barry Road!!

ED is full of loafing, self-employed (ha!) adults who have nothing better to do than sit at home (or outside) on their thrombosed bumholes posting away on the internet and waiting for the pubs to open.

Join us. You'll fit right in.

I love living in Dulwich and accept it for what it is. When I have spent time at home during the week, the whole place is very different to the ED I know in the evenings and at weekends.

A prime example is Dulwich park. Before I goosed my knee I used to go running early in the morning before work. The only people you'd see were other dog walkers and runners. Head down there around 11am and it's a completely different story. I avoid the place at all costs at these times.

Don't get me wrong kids are great, I was one once, but I'm not really a children person. I'd just rather not be surrounded by them, so avoid places where I know they'll be. There are plenty of options in this area.

Just the heading to this threat is annoying in itself: "own money" .. I had, and still have my own money thank you very much darling - so get back in your box one that one!

But i will say that i'm expecting my first sprog and I will soon have to eat my words as I agree that I'm always dodging prams in Dulwich and it can get a little annoying as you're always having ot watch your step.

I've been in Dulwich for years and there's definitely been a change in my opinion (as small and insignaficant as it may be!) the prams have definitely doubled, if not tripled .. but then again it has changed the whole neighbourhood with all these new faces .. so it's not so bad.

I think the annoying thing is that money is mentioned at all. As if it?s important whether or not someone has it and if it?s ?their own? or not?

Anyway this thread is starting to bore one.

Someone pm me when it?s degenerated into knob gags.

EDIT to get rid of erroneously inserted smiley

You have every right to ask whatever question springs to your mind. I was commenting on the way in which you asked it. If you read it back you will see that it's kinda alienating and unfriendly IMO. I'm sure you'll find lots of people like yourself and lots of different people. Chill out and enjoy the area for what it is....diverse.

Regardless of how I feel about mummies (yummy or not) or their sprogs (some well behaved and lovely some vile and wild) these are ladies who tend to support the local environment as they shop and seek entertainment locally. I live outside of East Dulwich and there are less mummies with a disposible income around and businesses really seem to suffer because of it, businesses that would thrive in ED because of a healthy day trade. Once I was allowed a day off work, so I had a potter round ED and it was bustling. On a night you have a different crowd and ED seems to offer a healthy mix of normal pubs and what I would deem "style bars", that latter with a little nose wrinkle.

D (30, crippling career, lots of own money, in need of impregnation)

i definitely think it's about time a village for singletons was created .. that would be fab .. i'm desperate to off load all my single mates (girlfirends) .. actually that sounded wrong and i meant it in the nicest way as they are fab girls and would bring happiness to any man, and not change them, just enhance them (my partner falls for that everytime - i love it!)

and then there's the hockey boys .. my partner trains the local teams .. and they're just as desperate for some companionship .. so i gather them all together and we're now one big happy family .. but unfortunately they misread the script - no one got it on!! life's just not that simple is it - i never did like match making .. now i know i'm useless at it too.

but anyway, there are loads of single people in Dulwich and a good vibe all round so just chill and enjoy it - you'l be suprised

    • Wow, well served with local supermarkets then…  Agree with ATM.. good c position to been mugged or cloned card - prob why not been considered before. Wasn’t there one outside post office and still  is2where people were abit nervous of using? Hope I am wrong but won’t see me rushing to use it…sure lots of folk will benefit thou. Not a great fan or user of Iceland but when it closed years ago people complained..  Guess they only b look at bigger sites - can’t recall an express one but a pity to those who frequent the store. Strange that Tesco can use it as local but Iceland can’t - guess it is  power of large supermarkets. Personally would have  loved an Aldi or Lidl but  clearly site to small. Only grocery stores left to come are Waitrose, Aldi, Lidl…
    • I'm paying £31 pcm for full fibre 300, whatever that is. I'm not sure it's a particularly good deal now, but I did a comparison at the time I went onto it, and it was then. I don't have a landline any more, and my mobile is with iD, who piggyback off 3. I don't usually have any problems,  except once a few years back when the whole 3  network (?) went  down for quite a long time.
    • I have Plusnet too.   I recently (August) had some problems with WiFi connection on different days but and the turning off and turning on didn’t work.  The WiFi didn’t work for quite a few hours - overnight in one case but eventually rectified itself.   Would be interested to know how much other people pay for Plusnet. I also have a landline with them as the mobile signal is bad inside house.  That is with EE and I want to change from them to another provider.
    • That's terrible 🤬 Was it the same company both times?
