More significant is Labour have won Rotherhithe from the Lib Dems. This will be a massive blow to Simon Hughes who could lose his seat at the general election.

The Tories last hope of any seats in Southwark is Village Ward, which still hasn't declared. Considering Grange has had to recount, I won't be surprised if it swings to Labour.

I'm sorry for Robin - she's been as good a local representative on the council as any other, but suffered from the national party effect. I long for the day when all local councillors are independents (as they are in many places in Europe), but I'm not holding my breath.

College could end up with a by-election if re-elected Helen Hayes replaces Tessa Jowell as MP next May. However, I understand Ms Hayes can continue to serve on the council.

Rent arrears @ January this year ? just over ?16 million.
