ah cmon now Brendan. I agree it wasnt the best but.......

International conglomerate of villains conducting secret meeting whilst watching Tosca- That was quite fanciful

freaky looking bodyguard wearing weird black neck brace after fall- nice touch.

and am I still the only one who liked 'villain eating fruit menacingly?'

and how about 'I can't find the stationary' for a chat up line.

these were all good bits!

Am I the only person in the world who thinks the definitive Bond was Roger Moore?

I prefer Bond as the quintessential English cad with one eyebrow raised. Daniel Craig is brooding and miserable. He does for Bond what Christian Bale has done for Batman - turned him into an inarticulate, soul-searching bore "for the post 9/11 age" or whatever.

Where's the fun gone?

Went to see Quantum of Solace last night and enjoyed it. Has the derivation of the title been mentioned yet? (cant be arsed reading the past 2 pages). Its a Fleming short story that notes that in the immediate aftermath of the death of loved one "There is not one quantum of solace" which makes sense of an otherwise odd title.
I thought the run through of Peckham Rye Park was great, especially the backdrop of the Bowling Hut going up in flames (again) when it got nailed by the stinger missile, then he runs into the play area and tries to hide but the lack of equipment means he is seen straight away, luckily his enemy is hit by a falling branch and knocked unconscious, great scene.

I agree. I was very sceptical when Craig was cast, but having seen both Casino Royale and (tonight) Quantum of Solace, I am quite happy to admit I was wrong. He is simply brilliant and makes the other films look like nonsense by comparison. Moore in particular seems like a ridiculous buffoom - more of a pastiche of the real thing - frankly closer to Austin Powers than Craig's Bond.

I wouldn't say Daniel Craig is traditionally handsome... but I've never seen a man look so devestatingly sexy in a suit either!

    • I think the thread title is a bit overdramatic there’s thousands of CICs in the UK.  Hopefully, I don’t sound naive when I say that sometimes this sort of set up is a way to reach hard to reach people without the bureaucracy of more formal organisations.

    • We have a place and a date for the first (and hopefully not the last) reborn ED Forum drinks! We have booked tables at The Palmerston on Wednesday 11 June at 7pm, in the area by the window on the left as you come in. It would be very helpful to us (and particularly the pub) if you could PM us in good time if you intend to come, so that we are not reserving tables which won't be used. We will provide labels and pens  for those who would like to use them - definitely not compulsory! Any comments or queries, please post them here or PM me!
