Jah Lush
I'm not surprised at all. I haven't been into Woolies for more than 20 years. Frankly it's been crap for decades and just hasn't moved with the times. Peckhamgatecrasher
Went to pay my respects this morning. At 9.15 it was the most full I've ever seen it. Frankly not many bargains, though I was tempted by a ?2 Mario Lanzo double CD.Couldn't be arsed to queue.Returned for a little light therapy after visiting the dentist and was denied entry by a very shady bouncer on the grounds that the queues were too long.Hmm. If only such 'loyalty' had been shown before ... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4648-woolies-rip/page/2/#findComment-152735 Share on other sites

jollybaby
I popped into the Peckham branch today and made a very swift exit. There were police in there looking after the crowds! the bargains weren't that great either 10p off a ?1 selection box - people were going crazy though and willing to queue for hours. Surely in the spirit of the Drinking Song, you should have been inspired to go round the corner to the Greyhound, get langered and gone back and nicked the bleeder.I'm not of course privy to Mario Lanza's methods of going about things, but I have a feeling he would have wanted it that way. Jeremy
Went into the Bethnal Green branch yesterday... CDs, DVDs and games still more expensive than Amazon (and nothing in there you'd want, anyway). Moderate reductions on low-grade confectionary. Only 10% off light-sabres.Most disappointing. Peckhamgatecrasher
I fear for the future of English Literature. Three books I have read in the past week make a reference to that august store: Porterhouse Blue, Engleby, The Knife that Killed Me.What will novelists use now?
