Dead fox disposal

Just found a dead fox in my garden. Southwark council want ?48 to take it away. No room to bury it. Already starting to smell and bin men don't come til Tuesday. Any ideas?

RSPCA will not attend for a dead fox. Either move it kerbside or pay the ?48.

Offer it to a vet school or taxidermist. If not, pay up and do the right thing: ?48 is a relatively small amount of money (to anyone who can afford a computer, broadband, time to post on EDF).

I wouldn't use the RSPCA - always very stretched. If you have transport you could put it in the garden waste as Southwark dump so it gets composted. If not, bury in your garden or pay the coucil. ?48 does seem steep though.

Triple-bag it and put in the green bin. Move quickly as in this weather it's not going to get any easier.

Cover it in bark chippings /cat litter as a temporary measure .

Hold your nose. Wear rubber gloves and put it in a black bin bag. Seal the bag with tape and drop it in your bin.

Or just dig a hole and drop it in there. Is there really not a fox sized space in your garden?

Triple bagged it and left it on kerb. Street cleaners arranged for pick up. It's not there now so can only assume they did. Apparently they get 5 similar calls a day in Southwark and Lambeth combined. If it's on the kerb they don't charge the ?48 + VAT.

still true. So put it in a bag or not and leave it in the kerb. They have to collect within 24 hours.
