Of course its not genuine Japanese.

I'd be surprised if it was big enough for Wagamama

Jon

What other chain has popped up? I can't think of any indie that has been replaced by a chain in years.

A very astute observation.

However, people have been banging on for at least ten years about chains taking over. What have we got... Cafe Nero, Oliver Bonas, Gourmet Burger... that's about it I think.

But neither Foxtons or Picture House took over their site from independent shops. Franco Manca is taking over the site from another small chain. I get the point of course, but nevertheless, the prediction of "indies squeezed out by chains" has not really materialised yet to any significant extent.

this is ultimately true, to date. Helped by the small unit sizes 9as many people have said over the years)

And yet, and yet.... change is in the air I think

Exactly-- no indie has been taken over by a chain. And there are really very few large chains.

    • What ever they decide I would have thought that the skate park would not be staying but really hope I am wrong as in my minds eye, I see the skate park as potential parking spaces after all if it is going to be community, flats, retail units, cafe, etc folks are going to want to have the parking availability - Amir like the parade of shops opposite. if the skate park goes then I think it is Dulwich Estate obligation to find another suitable area… a lot of community spirit and hard work went into developing the skate park and the youngsters should be very proud of what they have done  and achieved.
    • Hi all My car was stolen between 1.30pm-1.50pm today in SE22 East Dulwich in South East London. I have of course reported this to the police but not much is being done, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The registration is GM66YOV, though its possible the licence plate may have been changed by now. If you see it anywhere please contact me or the police. Thankyou!
